Strong showing by Loh Kean Yew at the Singapore Badminton Open, making it all the way to the final! We are proud of his determination and fighting spirit. While the result did not go his way today, he has shown what it means to compete with courage and resilience throughout the tournament. Well done and keep going, Loh Kean Yew 🇸🇬

Kicked off our annual month-long National Family Festival today. Family time should be protected time — with fewer distractions and more meaningful moments together. That is why we also launched a new “Screen Smart” movement, to support parents and help children develop healthy digital habits from the start.
Just as we have come together to nurture a strong family culture in Singapore, we can also shape healthier societal norms around technology use and create a more supportive environment for children and families.
My thanks to the Families for Life Council, our partners, and all volunteers for your strong support in this endeavour. Together, we can strengthen family bonds, help our children build a healthy relationship with technology, and grow up confident, resilient and ready for the future.

Today, Buddhists in Singapore and around the world commemorate the birth, enlightenment and passing of the Buddha.
As devotees gather in temples for prayers and rituals, they also reflect on the Buddha’s teachings and the values of compassion, kindness and peace. These ideals help foster a more caring and harmonious society.
Wishing all who celebrate a peaceful and meaningful Vesak Day with your loved ones.

Planted a Hopea recopei tree with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, To Lam, at the Singapore Botanic Gardens today.
Native to Vietnam and Southeast Asia, this sturdy tree is a fitting symbol of the close ties between our two countries. Like the tree, the Singapore–Vietnam friendship is deeply rooted and will continue to flourish and grow stronger with time!

Attended the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue last evening. His Excellency Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, delivered the Keynote Address. He spoke about the erosion of international norms and increasing global uncertainties, and underscored the need for ASEAN unity, a rules-based international order, and continued open dialogue. His message reminds us that regional peace requires constant effort and sustained engagement.
Singapore has hosted this forum since 2002. This year, we welcome representatives from over 40 countries to discuss pressing security issues in the Asia-Pacific. Such exchanges remain vital to our shared stability.
I met US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth at the Istana as we marked the 60th anniversary of Singapore-US diplomatic relations. We reaffirmed our longstanding partnership, including cooperation in defence and the economy, and exchanged views on global security challenges.
I also welcomed French Minister for the Armed Forces Catherine Vautrin. We are building on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership launched last year, and discussed ways to deepen defence ties and explore new areas of cooperation.
I wish all delegates a productive dialogue as we continue working towards a stable and prosperous region.

Welcomed General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, To Lam, back to Singapore today. This is his second visit in two years, reflecting the growing friendship between our nations.
Our discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and translating our agreements into concrete outcomes. Both sides will deepen collaboration in areas like agri-trade, renewable energy, science and technology, and human capital development. These are practical areas where Singapore and Vietnam can do more together in an increasingly complex world.
Both our countries depend on open trade and a rules-based international order, and share a common interest in a strong and united ASEAN. We will make full use of our respective ASEAN and APEC Chairmanships next year to advance regional cooperation and integration.
Singapore and Vietnam have built a strong and trusted partnership. I am confident we can create even more opportunities for our peoples in the years ahead. 🇸🇬🇻🇳

Selamat Hari Raya Haji to our Muslim friends.
Hari Raya Haji is an important occasion for the Muslim community, marked by prayer, sacrifice and sharing with others.
As families observe korban this year, I am heartened by the resilience and community spirit shown by all involved. I am also grateful to our mosques, volunteers and partners for their efforts to ensure that beneficiaries continue to be supported, despite the challenges affecting the supply of livestock for korban. These efforts reflect the strong bonds within our community.
Our thoughts are also with our 900 pilgrims performing the Hajj in Saudi Arabia. I wish them a meaningful and fulfilling Hajj and a safe journey home.
Semoga Aidiladha kali ini membawa keberkatan kepada anda sekeluarga dan memperkukuh sifat belas ihsan serta semangat gotong royong di kalangan masyarakat Islam Singapura.

Enjoyed our 5th “Woof Woof Day Out” in Limbang! It’s the first time we are holding it at Stagmont Park, as our usual venue at Limbang Park is currently being upgraded.
The good news: the refreshed park will include a new dog run when works are completed later this year!
