The session began with an introduction to Clarke Quay, once a bustling riverside port where traders unloaded spices, rice, and more. πβ Today, itβs a lively hub of food and lights β but our kids got to discover its rich past!
They had the chance to smell and touch spices that were once traded, guessing their names and imagining the busy markets of old. πΆοΈπ They also played a spot-the-difference game between past and present Singapore, seeing how much our city has changed. ποΈπ
Next, they learned about the tongkang, traditional boats used by traders on the Singapore River. The kids even tried labelling the parts of a boat before making their very own mini versions! π€π¨
It was a meaningful afternoon of history, culture, and hands-on learning.

To mark SG60, the kids painted their very own Singapore flags β each one a proud display of national spirit and individuality. ποΈβ€οΈπ€ They also reflected on what Singapore means to them through drawing loved ones, capturing the warmth and unity of family and community. π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦π¨
It was a beautiful session filled with pride, creativity, and reflection. A big thank you to our volunteers for helping the kids express what home means to them! π«

Last month's theme centered on friendship. And, one of the topics that was introduced is 'Resolving Conflicts'. Our Caterpillars explored the art of resolving conflicts kindly through fun and thoughtful activities! π¬π
From arts and crafts to writing, the children learned how to handle disagreements with empathy, respect, and a listening ear. ππ§
Weβre so proud of their reflections and teamwork as they practiced turning conflicts into opportunities for understanding. ππ€
A heartfelt thank you to our amazing volunteers for making this session so engaging and meaningful! π
