I did this as a practice piece for a cake and so many new surprises came to me as I paint! The iridescent pink clouds and additional touches of wafer paper flowers. What happens when we go with the flow~ I feel so happy and alive seeing this piece of work come to life!!

Inspiration comes to you when least expect it…

I have a theory that inspiration probably is accessing the parts of us that we have been storing subconsciously through experience and memories all along… then one day you found the key to unlocking and accessing them. Anyone feel me?🙌🏼

I’m forever amazed at how the petals of Dahlias grow and how unique they are, the way their petals unfurl and curl.

It is an intentional collective practice of slowing down & appreciating the beauty of life amidst our daily hustle and bustle, through flower-making. Inspired by my healing journey (especially in the last 3 years), experiences & stories that I have shared & received over the last 14 years in the creative industry, I hope to be able to provide the space for people to learn & grow mindfully too, through practical skills and heartful conversations that will open up so many doors.

The word FLOW-ER here acts as a noun (yes I know this word doesn’t exist in the dictionary) I hope that it will be what you will take away when you show up, as someone who flows with life & the process, just like what art has taught me.

Really looking forward to share this grounded & fulfilling human experience while still keeping it as an intimate setting for safe & qualitative learning .

FLOW-ER: Workshop Sneak Peek.

I started WKC in 2015 as a dream. Almost 10 years
later... here we are. The journey has been a roller coaster; I have been lost, but I have been and am also constantly discovering newer depths of me.

I have always been open about what I learnt on my journey, through my reflections and my craft.
This workshop shall be a little a tribute to the constant discovery of who I am (and who you are too), and what I serve to the world.
Through the 3 years of 1:1 workshops with my students, and the conversations we exchanged, I am constantly reminded the beauty of a human connection & experience (especially with today’s world of AI) while making flowers.

Some people might say I am dreaming. But what is life if not for following our hearts, a little dreaming, and taking one small step closer to it?

Sometimes, I still cannot believe people would fly to Singapore to learn from me. Sometimes, I find it absurd to say I actually teach people how to make flowers for a living. It looks like I had it easy but it is anything but that. This is a dream 14 years in the making.

What people see on the outside is the flower making & transfer of skill set.

🙋🏻‍♀️One common question people usually ask me is: can the Color Theory you teach on wafer paper be applied on gumpaste, fondant or buttercream?

The answer is YES. Color theory is universal! The easiest example I’ll explain is: Red + Yellow will always give you orange no matter what medium you use.

1. Coloring Gumpaste Hydrangeas using Gel & edible dust after
2. Coloring Wafer Paper Leaves using edible paint & edible dry dust after
3. Demonstrating Color Theory on gumpaste during a 1:1 Private Workshop
4. Coloring Wafer Paper Ranunculus with edible paint
5. Coloring Wafer Paper Hydrangeas with edible paint
6. A cake design I did according to a color palette I found- the same color theory applies on both gumpaste and wafer paper of the cake
7. One point in 2020-2021 I got addicted to using my human color picker😎👩🏼‍🎨🎨 skillset to mix colours and came out with this cake design referencing a flower bouquet from ! 😝

Today is play day! The more I play with colors, the better I get at recognising and distinguishing colors, the better I am at mixing them, and everytime I create a palette like that out of a photo or artwork I see, it always lights me up from within🥰 pretty color combination makes me so happy!! x

For many years, in my captions or conversations with students, I always remind people the importance of play. It’s where we have tons of fun and that is where creativity will shine the most— when we go with the flow. It’s like as adults, we forget how to play or set time aside to play, and a part of us dies along the lack of fun as well.

Every year I dedicate time off to a passion project that is not required by work, this time instead of a project, I’m back to where I was in 2020 where I am just playing with C O L O R S 💓

Here’s a reminder to take time off to PLAY, and do whatever lights you up from within, be creative with what you can do! You will surprise yourself 🙆🏻‍♀️

Hello online world/ Instagram! It has been a while👋🏼

While I haven’t been online, I’ve been spending loads of time offline, recharging creative juices, allowing myself to rest from an intense working mode (I just want to be honest about life happening in seasons and we can’t be productive 100% of the time), doing very limited number of private workshops with students.

*Sometimes rest feels like you’re taking many steps backward, but in fact you’re moving more steps forward*

Through workshops I’m always inspired by my students stories and journeys, as I reflect back on them, it reminded me of my own journey and how indeed, they’re many ways one can honour their creativity. And it’s okay to change the way you honour and express from time to time too as you grow. I am definitely not the same person I was 14 years ago when I started, and I’m constantly evolving and discovering more about myself as I keep on creating. That’s also the exciting part :)

In a world now where social media is just flooded with so much, I find it more important to look inward more (stay offline) as to what kind of creative expressions I’d want to bring to the world. Not doing things for “going viral” or doing “trendy” things. That would deviate me too much from my core. I simply can’t do things that don’t align with me.
Staying true to my voice has always only benefitted me and the people around me and I intend to keep it that way.

While I’ve also been very honoured and blessed to receive invitations to teach overseas, right now it just doesn’t feel like that will be part of my current season. Sorry lovely people & hosts, I know I have rejected too many🥹
