For CW Adzhar, a Duty Visit Officer at Prison Link Centre Changi, every shift begins with making sure things run smoothly, and every interaction is guided by empathy.🫶🏻

Drawing from his past experience as a football referee, he knows that how you communicate matters, just as much as what you say.💪🏻 Whether he's helping visitors navigate regulations or supporting his teammates through difficult situations, he leads with compassion.✨

Recently, he was recognised with the MHA Star Service Award — an honour he humbly attributes to his entire team.👏🏻 Show him some support in the comments!💙

We are proud to share that DSP Chua Yi Gang and DSP Lin Rouxiu have been appointed as SPS's first ever Honorary Aides-de-Camp (HADC) to serve the Office of the President of Singapore.

As HADCs, they support the President's office in planning, coordinating and organising events and functions attended by the President, representing the very best of what our Captains of Lives stand for.

Speaking at the event, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam highlighted the inclusion of SPS as a meaningful milestone for the corps. He shared that the work of the Prison Service goes beyond security and discipline, to rehabilitation, reintegration and giving individuals dignity and a second chance — work that is often unseen, but vital to our national ethos.

"I hope to foster a culture of openness where ideas and practices can be exchanged," said DSP Chua Yi Gang.

"Corrections is often behind the scenes, but it requires empathy, resilience and responsibility," shared DSP Lin Rouxiu. "I hope to reflect these values in my work as an HADC."

Two officers. One shared commitment: To serve with purpose.

Congratulations to both!

"Even a few hours a month can make a huge difference."💪🏻

Meet Cassandra Tan, a 29-year-old Volunteer (Befriender) with the Singapore After-Care Association! Over the past three years, she has journeyed with inmates and ex-offenders to strengthen their prosocial circle.✍🏻

As a volunteer befriender, Cassandra communicates with inmates and ex-offenders via letters and phone calls, to support them.✨ Not only does she understand the impact of good, robust social support, but her perspectives on life have also changed for the better after hearing others' stories.🫶🏻

For her, it's the proof she needs that her work is meaningful, showing how a healthy outlet to talk can be the turning point someone needs.

to a Symphony of Inclusivity and Second Chances!🎶

We're looking back on a truly special moment — inmates from Institution A5's Performing Arts Centre (PAC) Band taking the stage for their first-ever joint performance with The Purple Symphony!🎻🥁

This performance on 27 April 2026 was about more than just music; it was a powerful display of inclusion and second chances.🎗️

Since 2007, SPS's PAC programme has helped inmates develop discipline and confidence through the arts. Seeing them perform alongside Singapore's largest inclusive orchestra, comprising musicians with and without disabilities, was a beautiful reminder that when we focus on abilities rather than labels, we build a stronger community and are ultimately

The Psychiatric Correctional Unit (PCU) Family Day on 28 April 2026 was more than just a visit.🫶🏻

By bringing together inmates and their loved ones, we hope to strengthen the family connections that are vital for a fresh start. 🎉

Through practical sessions with healthcare professionals from Institute of Mental Health Singapore and trust-building exercises, families and inmates shared quality time together and reconnected through the various activities.💪🏻

At its heart, this initiative focused on nurturing the mental well-being and recovery of the inmates, recognising that familial relations and support are a cornerstone of a successful rehabilitation journey. 🧠✨

"There is always more to learn regarding addiction and working with inmates."💪🏻

Meet Asher Tay, a Senior Correctional Rehabilitation Specialist with the Psychological and Correctional Rehabilitation Division (PCRD). Asher hasn't always planned on people-centric work, but since 2016, she found her purpose facilitating psychological programmes that help women inmates rebuild their lives. 🫶🏻✨

The biggest takeaway? Self-reflection and continuous learning. Whether it's managing emotions or developing new training materials, Asher proves that rehabilitation is both a science and a heart-led mission.

Hear all about her story, and leave her your support in the comments! 💙
