Congratulations to the winners of the NUS-SYNAPXE-IMDA AI Innovation Challenge 2026! 🏆 🎉
Since January, 181 student teams from universities, polytechnics and junior colleges had been hard at work designing AI-powered solutions for chronic conditions. Many tapped on MERaLiON and SEA-LION, homegrown AI models under IMDA's National Multimodal Large Language Model Programme (NMLP), to cater to Southeast Asia’s context. 🏥❤️
The winning projects included an AI-enabled home monitoring platform for heart patients; and a browser-based AI platform that allows users to complete structured health screenings under five minutes without needing to visit the clinic.
Kudos to all student participants for demonstrating how AI can be used to shape healthier lives for all! 👏

3 weeks to build a one-stop portal that has since managed over 5,500 cases of v**e offenders. 💻
A team of fewer than 10 people developed the new Va**ng Information System by integrating eight existing GovTech (Government Technology Agency of Singapore) products.
Now used by 13,000 officers across various government agencies, the system tracks each offender’s va**ng records and rehabilitation appointments, helping officers know what action to take.
This is one example of how technology is being used to improve enforcement and rehabilitation.

An AI-powered wearable robot is helping seniors stay active and prevent falls. 👵👴
Developed by NTU researchers, the Data-driven Robotic Balance Assistant (DRBA) uses AI algorithms to assess users’ range of motion and sense of balance, to automatically adjust its support.
The patented DRBA has been successfully trialled at Lions Befrienders’ active ageing centres in Tampines, enabling seniors to participate in Zumba classes with its help. 💪
Such innovations support active ageing in the community and improve seniors’ lives.
