Always encouraging to see happy, focused children. We’ve just kickstarted our first Transformative Arts Programme of the year at Corporation Primary! Through play and exploration, the children navigated different art processes and learned to become more independent and adaptable. Looking forward to the next workshop!

What if homework is replaced by art projects? School’s out but we brought our Transformative Arts Programme to Huamin Primary School and had lots of fun crafting and connecting with students from the Student Care Centre. While making art, students learn to problem-solve, work through the mess and enjoy a time of undivided focus away from their screens and devices. We’ll definitely love more of this in schools!

Beyond craft, it’s care.
This week, our Yellowren volunteers had a purposeful and beautiful time at All Saints Home (Yishun), sharing Christmas cheer with the residents.

It was 4 hours of crafting and conversations on a weekend morning at Nee Soon Link Seniors' Day and we love it! Our volunteers were encouraged last Saturday to meet seniors who are active and independent. We met a retired designer who is inspired by our craft and shared his desire to contribute to the community with his skills, to which we responded "Of course, you can!"

From teenagers to retirees, our energetic team of volunteers came together on a weekday afternoon for a lovely time of connection at St Luke's ElderCare. Our songs are always a hit with both the seniors and the staff! The healthcare team works tirelessly, and we’re glad to bring a refreshing touch to an ordinary day at the centre.

Every family has a story. Project Amaryllis is an initiative by students from the Raffles Girls' School with a focus on providing social and emotional support for neurotypical siblings of persons with special needs. We are so glad to have them facilitate the pebble and mirror art workshops at our recent festival, advocating for families to use their voices and stories to create a positive impact and to build inclusive communities.

Many of us loved playing with Lego and building blocks when we were young. The Art Room, a group of art enthusiasts and educators, brought the joy of building to our festival through their workshops and evolving installation “Moving Futures”. Through imaginative landscapes, they inspire us to build a sustainable Singapore through collaborative creativity.

We are born to create. Arts For All offers a safe creative space for participants across all ages to reconnect with their creative self and rediscover the endless possibilities that life brings. And it’s lovely to join the workshops at no cost – this is how Yellowren makes art accessible to our community.

It was raining heavily yet all 35 schools showed up for the 8th edition of the Yellowren Canvas Art Competition, supported by the National Arts Council Singapore, at Lower Seletar Reservoir Park.

It must have been stressful for the teachers to stay upbeat in the midst of uncertainty. But what followed was a beautiful turn of weather and a competition we will remember for a long time.

Close to 150 teams from the Primary and Secondary Schools expressed their creativity on canvases across the park lawn. The outdoor competition and festival provided an excellent platform for experiential learning, and the students certainly demonstrated resilience and grit.

One visitor kindly suggested for the event to be indoors in the future, one that would shelter us from both the sun and the rain. As we looked around and saw the determined and happy faces of students braving through the competition and enjoying the festival by the waters, we knew we would make the same choice again; to bring the festival outdoors to the community, amidst the little nature we have.

Thank you for showing up - not just physically, but with resilience, and your love for the arts and life.
