Notwithstanding current challenges, global air passenger demand is expected to more than double over the next 25 years, with the Asia-Pacific region leading as the fastest-growing market.

A CAAS delegation, led by Director-General, Mr Han Kok Juan, was delighted to visit the International Air Transport Association (IATA) headquarters in Geneva on 21 May 2026, to discuss the future of aviation with IATA Director-General, Mr Willie Walsh, Senior Vice President Sustainability & Chief Economist, Ms Marie Owens Thomsen, and Chief Information & Data Officer, Ms Kim Macaulay and team. The discussion focused on how CAAS and IATA can collaborate to better serve airlines and the travelling public, including in the Asia Pacific, the fastest-growing region for air traffic.

CAAS thanks IATA for the partnership as we look forward to taking global aviation to even greater heights together! ✈️✨

While it's a wrap for the Aviation Safety Forum (ASF) 2026, our work in sustaining and strengthening aviation safety must continue.

Thank you to all our industry partners and stakeholders from across aviation companies, unions and associations for being a part of ASF 2026! We’re also incredibly heartened by the positive trends and significant improvements in aviation safety culture across our sector, as seen from the 2025 results of the second Singapore Aviation Sector Safety Culture Survey.

CAAS looks forward to continued partnerships with our tripartite partners to strengthen our safety leadership, regime and culture, as we soar safely to greater heights, together! ✈️

Aviation safety is non-negotiable and the top priority for Singapore aviation. As air traffic grows and our operating environment becomes more complex, we must remain even more vigilant to keep flying safe for all.

On 20 May 2026, the CAAS Aviation Safety Forum brought together Singapore aviation sector leaders to take stock of the state of aviation safety and chart the way forward. This cornerstone event gathered over 300 professionals from across aviation companies, industry partners, unions and associations.

At the event, CAAS also released results from the second Singapore Aviation Sector Safety Culture Survey which showed positive trends and significant improvements in safety culture across the Singapore aviation sector.

The improvement in safety culture across the whole sector is the result of strong tripartite efforts and the dedication of aviation workers at every level. Standing united as a community, we remain committed to partnerships and shared learning. With this collaborative spirit, we are positioning Singapore's aviation sector to not just grow, but to grow safely and sustainably for the decades ahead. ✈️

As we grow the Singapore aviation sector, CAAS and NTUC Singapore are enhancing early careers support for Singaporeans joining the aviation sector with the launch of two new initiatives:

✈️ The 𝗡𝗧𝗨𝗖 𝗔𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿, which aims to deliver targeted support to youth working in aviation companies and prospective joiners, including those studying in aviation-related courses.

✈️ The 𝗢𝗻𝗲𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲, which will empower aviation employers to provide structured mentorship to Singaporeans joining the aviation sector to help them establish themselves in the early stages of their careers.

The two new initiatives are part of the sector’s effort to ramp up recruitment and upskill its workforce, to meet rising demand for air travel and prepare for the opening of Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 5 in the mid- 2030s, which will increase the airport’s handling capacity by about 50 million passengers annually.

They are also testament to the strong spirit of tripartism we have in Singapore, which helps us overcome challenges, seize opportunities, and take care of our workers. By investing in our youth today, CAAS remains committed to developing our people and growing the Singapore air hub together with our partners.

CAAS is honoured to receive the Plaque of Commendation (Star) at this year’s NTUC May Day Awards – the top award conferred on organisations that have shaped Singapore’s workforce and consistently made significant contributions to the Labour Movement.

This award recognises CAAS as a strong champion of tripartism. CAAS works closely with the NTUC Aerospace and Aviation Cluster of unions to jointly develop strategies and initiatives that advance the interests of the air hub, aviation companies and workers while supporting workers in capability development. We thank our NTUC brothers and sisters for their trust and partnership through the years and pledge continued commitment to tripartism as a key pillar of strength for the Singapore aviation sector.

We are also proud that Dr Chong Chun Hon, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Medical Board at CAAS, was conferred the Partner of Labour Movement Award. Dr Chong spearheaded the formation of the Tripartite Mental Health and Wellness Committee and the Tripartite Fatigue Risk Management Committee – creating vital support structures and implementing evidence-based solutions that strengthen protections for flight and cabin crew.

Together, we look forward to creating more opportunities and supporting our community as we take Singapore aviation to even greater heights! ✈️
