ROTARY GOT TALENT
22nd Nov 2024 was a night to remember for over 250 Rotarians and friends attending the FRCS (Foundation of Rotary Clubs in Singapore) Charity Dinner at the Chui Huay Lim Restaurant.
18 Rotary Clubs (out of 23) a record for events like these, came together for a night of camaraderie and compassion.
Organisers took a conscious step to invite guests who were not Rotarians so they would learn and appreciate Rotary values and work.
Chairman, FRCS Chew Ghim Bok and Guest of Honour, District Governor, Dr Yap Lip Kee welcomed all and spoke of the purpose of fund raising for FRCS projects, mainly the FRCS Active Ageing Centre (AAC). The AAC aims to provide a holistic lifestyle for elderly residents in the Bukit Gombak area to live and age well. The AAC runs programmes ranging from social, physical to mental activities to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
The Dinner themed “Rotary Got Talent” started off with a spread of delectable Teochew cuisine.
The Charity Jukebox went into full swing with an opening number by Chairman of the Fundraising Committee, Dr Gong Ing San. To energetic cheers and rousing support from the audience, more singers went on stage to belt their favourite tunes for a meaningful cause.
Auctioning 2 art pieces, a carpet and a vacation in a resort in Bali saw active and lively bidding. In particular, bidding was intense between 2 avid bidders for a Chen Wen Hsi painting. The auction raised funds with goodwill and cheer.
Rotarians had their night – it was “fun”, “boisterous”, “noisy” “rocked the night away” “will this be an annual event? Sure support.”
Mosf of all, the FRCS AAC will be able to run another year of service for the elderly residents.
FRCS would like to thank all Rotarian and guests at the Dinner for their enthusiastic support and generous donations.
Together we have built a community with our programmes for a more compassionate and caring Singapore.
