A Traffic Police officer shared how every phone call brought dread, knowing it meant someone had died and another family would be grieving. He recalled fatal accidents where lives were cut short in an instant, including a case where a speeding driver killed a young couple, leaving their loved ones struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.
The hardest moments come after the crash. Telling families that their son, daughter or partner will never return home is something that stays with the officer. He described how a victim had just said goodbye to his family hours earlier, yet never made it back, leaving relatives at a loss over how to break the news to others.
Even after the scene is cleared, the pain lingers. The officer shared that he sometimes cries alone, carrying the weight of the loss these families endure. These are not just statistics, but someoneโs loved one, gone in an instant.
Every journey is shared. Slow down, give way and stay focused. Looking out for one another reduces risk, keeps traffic moving smoothly, and helps ensure everyone gets home safely to their loved ones.
