SALWACO Management Reviews Draft Half-Yearly Work Plan and Budget for 2026
The Planning Manager of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO), Chrisla Alberta Koroma, through the Managing Director, has conducted a strategic management meeting on the draft Half-Yearly Work Plan and Budget for 2026.
The meeting brought together key members of management, including the Director of Human Resources, Mr. Joe Ansu Foray Esq.; Director of Policy and Research, Mr. Saffa S.K. Bockarie; Director of Operations and Maintenance North-West and North-East, Ing. John Augustine Forewa; Director of Finance, Mr. Frank Lahai Kamara; Director of Internal Audit, Madam Ama Mbayo; Company Secretary and Director of Legal Services, Mrs. Mayiwa Sia Macauley Esq.; Director of ICT, Mr. Moses Daniel Kon-Sopay; Director of Administration, Mr. Denis Macavoray Esq.; and Communications Officer, Victoria Saffa.
During her presentation, the Planning Manager, Chrisla Alberta Koroma, outlined the key outputs, activities, timelines, and responsible persons captured in the draft Half-Yearly Work Plan and Budget for 2026. Management carefully reviewed the document, made necessary corrections, and provided recommendations to ensure that all Directors are fully aware of their respective work plans and budget allocations for effective implementation and monitoring.
The engagement forms part of SALWACO’s continued commitment to effective planning, accountability, and the realization of its strategic development objectives.

SALWACO Engages GOAL-SL on Implementation of Five-Year Strategic Development Plan
As part of the Managing Director’s vision of transforming the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) into a functional and financially viable institution, SALWACO has engaged GOAL-SL in a bilateral meeting aimed at supporting the implementation of the company’s Five-Year Strategic Development Plan (2026–2030).
Speaking during the engagement, the Managing Director of SALWACO, Ing. Tiideni Hawa Jabbi, introduced her team and highlighted the company’s commitment to effectively delivering on its mandate while supporting the Government of Sierra Leone’s national development agenda and the attainment of Sustainable Development Goal Six (SDG 6) by 2030.
She noted that SALWACO has developed a clear strategic direction through its Five-Year Strategic Development Plan, which aligns with sectoral priorities, the national development agenda, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The Director of Development and Planning, Ing. Yakuba J. Tarawally, together with the Planning Manager, Chrisla Alberta Koroma, presented and discussed the Strategic Development Plan with representatives from GOAL-SL.
Responding on behalf of GOAL-SL, the Country Representative, James Riak, expressed optimism about strengthening collaboration to improve Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services in Sierra Leone, particularly in Moyamba and Kenema districts.
The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by SALWACO to build strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing access to safe water and sanitation services across the country.

SALWACO Restores Water Supply in Borma
The Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) has successfully restored water supply in Borma one, Borma two and Borma three communities - sections in Kenema City that have been deprived of water supply for over five years due to damages of SALWACO water supply pipe network caused by road contractors.
This is a big relief for our people.
SALWACO Regional Manager-East, Mr. Braima Allieu, Station Manager, Ing. Emmanuel Bayoh and the Station Admin Officer, Madam Stella Palmer visited Borma in an immediate response to several calls and concerns relating to several water leakages in the said community.
A team of technical staff was set up to assess and ascertain and quickly respond to those leakages and further do the required maintenance works within the shortest possible time.
Restoring water supply in that part of the township is not only a relief to the people of Borma, but will as well improve the company's revenue generation, affirmed, Briama Allieu.
The SALWACO Station Manager, Kenema, Ing. Bayoh and Mr. Allieu further assured the Borma community of regular water supply once the testing of the pipes and required minor maintenance are completed.
Thanks to SALWACO management, Technical Director-South-East Ing. Abu Kallon, Ing. John Hallowell, Regional Operations, Maintenance Manager and the technical team of Kenema for ensuring that the maintenance works.

SALWACO Act Review Enters Week Three as Stakeholder Engagements Continue
The Technical Working Group established to review the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) Act of 2017 has successfully concluded Week Three of its stakeholder engagement sessions, marking another important milestone in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the company’s legal and institutional framework.
The review process, led by the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation in collaboration with key sector stakeholders, continues to provide a strategic platform for critical discussions on proposed amendments aimed at aligning the Act with present-day operational realities and national development priorities.
During this week’s deliberations, members of the Technical Working Group engaged in detailed reviews of key provisions of the Act, focusing on areas such as institutional governance, operational efficiency, enhanced service delivery, regulatory effectiveness, and sustainable water resource management. The discussions also emphasized the need to position SALWACO to better respond to emerging challenges and opportunities within Sierra Leone’s water sector.
The Week Three engagement reflects the Government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the legal foundation of SALWACO, ensuring the institution remains responsive, resilient, and equipped to deliver safe and reliable water services to communities across the country.
The review process continues to demonstrate strong collaboration among stakeholders, reinforcing a shared vision for a more efficient and sustainable water utility sector in Sierra Leone.

ACC Engages SALWACO Staff on Online Asset Declaration
The Asset Management Department of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has held a successful engagement meeting with staff of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) on the online asset declaration process.
Welcoming the ACC team, the Director of Human Resources at SALWACO, Mr. Joe Ansu Foray Esq underscored the importance of the exercise, noting that the online asset declaration system will enable staff to declare their assets conveniently and in compliance with ACC regulations.
Mr. Foray emphasized that compliance is critical, adding that failure to complete the declaration process previously resulted in salary interruptions for some staff members two years ago.
Speaking during the engagement, the Head of Asset Management at the ACC, Mr. Brima Kargbo, called on the Director of Human Resources and SALWACO management to ensure that all staff complete their asset declarations online within the stipulated timeframe.
Mr. Kargbo disclosed that SALWACO recorded a commendable 95% compliance rate during the previous declaration exercise two years ago. He further explained that this year’s online declaration platform has been improved through collaboration between the ACC, the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation, and the Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) to make the process more user-friendly.
He informed staff that declarations can be completed online via http//.assets.anticorruption.gov.sl, with the deadline set for 29th July 2026.

SALWACO Provides New Generator for Kambia Station

The leadership of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) has provided and installed a new 100kva generator at the Kambia Station.
The move follows after weeks of unstable electricity much to the dissatisfaction of customers.
Speaking after the new installation, SALWACO'S Chief Utility Director, Ing. Abdul Ben Lebbie said that the urge of the installation is to remedy the situation of operations in Kambia.
Residents in Kambia had earlier expressed endless frustration over the manner in which SALWACO operates in the district. With the new generator, it is expected that customers will once again regain confidence in SALWACO as a water provision entity.
Earlier, SALWACO'S Managing Director, Ing. Tiideni Hawa Jabbi had remarked that making SALWACO to be a fully functional and financially viable institution is the new focus of her administration. There has also been an increase in revenue in the last couple of months. Getting a new generator for Kambia will add up to more advanced positive news and impact.
