Members of the children’s forum network attended a Student Summit where the National Children’s President moderated a powerful panel discussion focused on mental health and drug abuse in Sierra Leone.
The conversation was honest, emotional, and necessary.
Across schools and universities in Sierra Leone, many students are silently battling depression, anxiety, trauma, academic pressure, unemployment fears, and the growing influence of drug abuse. Substance misuse is no longer a distant issue, it is affecting classrooms, friendships, families, and futures.
We must normalize mental health conversations, strengthen school-based support systems, empower peer educators, and invest in prevention programs that address drug abuse before it destroys potent
The time to act is now.

Sierra Leone participated in the 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour held from 11–13 February 2026 in Marrakech, Kingdom of Morocco. The Conference, hosted by the Government of Morocco in collaboration with the International Labour Organization under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, convened global leaders and stakeholders to accelerate action toward ending child labour.
Building on previous commitments made in Durban, South Africa, discussions focused on strengthening social protection systems, expanding access to quality education, promoting decent work, and addressing emerging drivers such as conflict, migration, supply chains, and climate change. The International Organization for Migration also underscored the link between child labour, migration, and trafficking, calling for coordinated protection frameworks.
Sierra Leone was represented by the Vice President of the Children’s Forum Network Sierra Leone, accompanied by a representative from the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs. The delegation shared national experiences, engaged with international partners, and reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s commitment to strengthening policies and partnerships to eliminate child labour.
Sierra Leone remains dedicated to translating global commitments into practical, community-level action to ensure every child grows up free from exploitation and able to realise their full potential.

Our message is clear, children should behave as children and participate less in Valentine so it won't affect them in a negative way. You can share love to your family members, friends and love ones in a positive way and not in a negative way that will affect you as a child.
