2026: The Year of the Comeback
New Year Message from Dr. Alhaji K. Tarawally, the Founder and CEO of the LAKE Group of Companies.
My Fellow Sierra Leoneans and Creative Family,
As the clock strikes midnight from my residence here in Silicon Valley, California, bridging the distance to the dawn of a new year back home, I am filled with immense reflection and gratitude. On behalf of the Board, Executive Management, and the incredible team at the LAKE Group of Companies, I wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year 2026.
For 15 years, the LAKE Group has been more than a business; it has been a labor of love. What began as a simple vision at the Fourah Bay College campus in 2009 has been built, brick by brick, into an empire of seven subsidiary companies. This journey has been my greatest teacher. We have navigated storms, faced betrayals, and endured setbacks that might have shattered others. Yet, we remain standing—stronger than before—because our belief in the power of our culture and our people is unshakable.
It has been said that "when LAKE sleeps, the entertainment industry sleeps." 2025 was indeed a year of quiet preparation. But let it be known: rest is not an ending; it is fuel.
We are back.
In 2026, we are breathing new life into the industry we cherish. We are returning to the forefront to reclaim the energy and excellence you have missed. Prepare yourselves for a calendar of cultural resurgence:
▪️ October: The National Music Awards (NMA)
▪️ November: The Miss Freetown Beauty Pageant
▪️ December: The National Music Festival (NMF) & The National Entertainment Awards (NEA)
▪️ Upcoming: The iconic Miss Mano River International Beauty Pageant and much more.
To my team—my "ride-or-dies"—thank you for your loyalty. To Sierra Leone—thank you for being the heartbeat of our story. The best is truly yet to come.
Let’s get to work. Happy New Year, Sierra Leone!

NEA SL Shinning Light:
National Entertainment Awards Sierra Leone (NEA SL) is dedicating its major social media platforms today to a man from the rich soil of Sierra Leone. A mentor and an inspiration to many including us here at NEA SL. So it’s a privilege from us to shed light on the great work and aspirations of BABADI KAMARA, a strong Allegiance to Bo and the People of Bo.
Knowing the relationship between Bo School (the secondary school he attended) and Bo Rangers, it came as no surprise that BABADI KAMARA joined the Fan Club of Bo Rangers as a strong fan of the club.
BABADI KAMARA came to the limelight of Sport in 2018 when he first serve as Chairman of Bo Rangers Fan Club.
During this time, it was really tough for Bo Rangers on the playing pitch and structure wise, at a time when the Government of Sierra Leone had just pumped 4.5 billion Leones in to the Sierra Leone Premier League in an attempt to rejuvenate what the people love and cherish.
His influence grew on the club as Chairman of the Fans, as he showed true class of enthusiasm for the club to succeed.
By Mid Season of 2018/2019 league season, he was made Chairman of Bo Rangers. His dexterity of astute administration and leadership has seen massive transformation of Bo Rangers.
Upon his appointment as Chaiman of Bo Rangers, the club that was struggling in Relegation zone quickly turned their fortunes around, courtesy of his influence in bringing quality leadership which the Fans and People of Bo Rangers keyed in to.
Under his leadership, Bo Rangers went on to attract the best of players around the country and had since become a top destination for the country’s top football talent.
In 2019, he was Nominated as NEA Sports Personality of the year along side Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai (Chairman of PLB at the time), Dr Patrick Koker (President of NOC) Amb. Junior Navo (Chairman of EE Lions), Mohamed Kallon (Chairman of FC Kallon) among others.
He went on to be crowned as NEA SPORT PERSONALITY of the year 2019.
Since then, he has continued in his quest to contribute to Bo Rangers and Sierra Leone Football.
His administration is currently constructing the biggest football edifice in the history of club football in the shape of a Club House for Bo Rangers Club.
The club house on completion will have 18 rooms, a multipurpose hall, a gym, secretariat among others and good employment facilities.
Let’s top his achievements with the fact that he is the Sole Agent for timber export in Sierra Leone.
NEA is proud to have BABADI KAMARA as recipient of the 2019 NEA SPORT PERSONALITY of the year award and he is more than deserving of it. So from us at NEA SL, we want to extend a massive thank you for the great sacrifices, enthusiasm, achievements and above all your great leadership. We salute you sir!

ÂŁ1.57 Billion Investment Pumped to Protect the Arts and Entertainment Industry in UK
...WHERE IS SIERRA LEONE?
By Alhaji K. Tarawally
July 6th, 2020
Britain’s globally renowned arts, culture and heritage industries will receive a world-leading £1.57 billion rescue package to help weather the impact of coronavirus, the UK government announced.
Thousands of companies across a range of sectors including the performing arts and theatres, heritage, historic palaces, museums, galleries, live music and independent cinemas will be able to access emergency grants and loans. The money, which represents the biggest ever one-off investment in the UK’s arts and culture, will provide a lifeline to vital cultural and heritage organisations across the country that are hard hit by the Corona pandemic.
It will help them stay afloat while their doors are closed. Funding to restart paused projects will also help support employment, including freelancers working in these sectors.
Investment companies/stakeholders in the Sierra Leone Entertainment Industry are calling on the President Julius Maada Bio led Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs to emulate such timely and laudable venture by providing financial support to all those who are connected directly or indirectly to the Arts and Entertainment sector in the country. This sector have been tremendously affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Major entertainment and event management companies have been crying out for help, but our cries have been falling on deaf ears. We’ve watched the livelihoods of entertainers and that of investors in the industry dwindled in the twinkle of an eye. This is not only affecting us, but numerous others who are directly or indirectly connected to the industry.
We need to have an idea as to when we will be expecting to return to normalcy and how the government plans to help us in the interim.
After the 2018 general election, I decided to take a back seat on political, economic and social activities on social media, including writing or sharing of personal opinions. The current economic brouhaha in the Creative Industry in Sierra Leone however seem to be getting worse by the day for emerging businesses, rather than getting better. This has left me with no choice but to add my voice and passionately appeal and crave the indulgence of our government to use a pinch of the EU, IMF, WHO and other international support recovery funding on affected businesses.
My two cents!
