EU Supports Sierra Leone’s Agricultural Insurance Framework
This week the European Union provided support for a critical stakeholder workshop in Freetown, laying the groundwork for Sierra Leone’s first National Agricultural Insurance Policy and Implementation Roadmap.
Agriculture is the backbone of Sierra Leone's economy, supporting 65% of households., but remains highly vulnerable to climate shocks, holding back investment and growth in the sector
Funded by the EU, the workshop convenes government leaders, insurers, banks, and farmer cooperatives to design a sustainable insurance solution. ➡️ Protect smallholder farmers from risk.
➡️Unlock agricultural finance and investment.
➡️Build a climate-resilient food system.
The EU is committed to supporting Sierra Leone in developing a more secured and prosperous future for its agricultural sector.
