Historic Grassroots Engagement: Bombali District Chairman Sorie I. Fofana-Alhaji Launches Landmark Thank-You Tour Ahead of 2028 Elections

In a remarkable and unprecedented move that is already redefining political engagement within the Bombali District, the District Executive of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), under the dynamic leadership of Chairman Sorie I. Fofana-Alhaji, has officially commenced a historic thank-you tour across key constituencies, chiefdoms, and zonal structures.

This groundbreaking initiative, which began today, marks the first time in the history of the SLPP in Bombali District that a sitting District Chairman has embarked on a comprehensive grassroots visitation tour, not only to express gratitude to party loyalists but also to engage directly with them on pressing issues affecting the party’s base.

The tour kicked off with visits to Constituencies 037 and 038, where party members and supporters turned out in large numbers to welcome the Chairman and his delegation. The atmosphere was charged with excitement, appreciation, and renewed hope as grassroots supporters expressed deep admiration for what many described as a long-overdue gesture of recognition and inclusion.

For decades, grassroots members have played a critical role in sustaining the party’s presence and influence within the district. However, many noted that this is the first time they have experienced such direct engagement from the district’s top leadership. Chairman Fofana-Alhaji’s visit has therefore been widely hailed as a transformative moment—one that bridges the gap between leadership and the rank-and-file membership.

During his interactions, Chairman Fofana-Alhaji emphasized unity, inclusiveness, and forward-thinking strategies as the party begins early preparations for the 2028 general elections. He encouraged open dialogue, urging supporters to voice their concerns, ideas, and expectations. This approach fostered meaningful discussions on grassroots challenges, party strengthening, and the collective path forward.

Supporters described the Chairman’s outreach as both inspiring and reassuring. Many expressed a renewed sense of belonging and motivation, noting that his presence alone sent a powerful message of appreciation and commitment. The overwhelming reception he received across the visited areas further underscored the strong connection he is building with the grassroots.

In their responses, party members pledged unwavering support for Chairman Fofana-Alhaji’s leadership, describing him as a visionary leader whose actions demonstrate genuine care for the people. Several supporters went further to express prayers and well-wishes for his continued political growth, with many confidently predicting that his leadership journey will extend far beyond the Bombali District Chairmanship.

As the thank-you tour continues into tomorrow, expectations remain high that more communities will experience similar engagements. The initiative is not only strengthening party unity but also setting a new standard for political leadership and accountability within the district.

Chairman Sorie I. Fofana-Alhaji’s grassroots tour stands as a bold and defining moment—one that signals a shift towards people-centered leadership and a more inclusive political culture in Bombali District. As momentum builds, this initiative is poised to leave a lasting impact on the party’s structure, morale, and future electoral prospects.

`NEWSLETTER UPDATE`

Date: 28th February 2026.

`SLPP BOMBALI DISTRICT MEDIA ASSOCIATION REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR DISTRICT EXECUTIVE AND DISASSOCIATES FROM ABUBAKARR TAAL`

The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Bombali District Media Association hereby aligns itself with the official position of the SLPP Bombali District Executive in unequivocally disassociating from the conduct and public utterances of `Mr. Abubakarr Taal.`

The Media Association expresses deep concern over Mr. Taal’s persistent misuse of media platforms to launch attacks against party stakeholders, district authorities, and government officials. Such actions are not only inflammatory and disrespectful, but they also undermine party unity, institutional authority, and the collective progress of the SLPP in Bombali District.

As communicators and custodians of responsible party messaging, the SLPP Bombali District Media Association categorically rejects any form of media engagement that promotes hostility, incitement, or disrespect toward established party structures and national leaders. We reaffirm that accountability within the Party must be exercised with decorum, respect, and adherence to constitutional processes, not through public disparagement or reckless commentary.

`Call for Unity and Responsible Media Engagement`

The Chairman of the SLPP Bombali District Media Association, `Mr. Gibrilla Osman Kanu,` has issued a strong call for unity among all SLPP media practitioners, bloggers, and communicators within the district. He emphasized that the progress of Bombali District and the success of the current Executive require collective support, disciplined communication, and strategic collaboration.

Mr. Kanu further stressed that leadership accountability must be constructive and solution-oriented. Disrespect, nonchalant behavior, and harsh or baseless criticism do not strengthen the Party; rather, they weaken internal cohesion and damage public confidence.

“We must unite, promote our district positively, and support the Executive to deliver opportunities and development for our people,” he stated.

`Constituency Chairmen Reaffirm Loyalty`

The Media Association also notes that Constituency Chairmen across Bombali District have officially distanced themselves from Mr. Taal’s statements and actions. Claims suggesting that the Constituency Chairmen are not supportive of Chairman Sorie I. Fofanah-Alhaji are entirely false and misleading.

Constituency leadership, including Chairmen of Constituencies 037 and 033, Chairman Tunkara, Chairman Shiek Issa, and other constituency executives, have reaffirmed their unwavering support for Chairman Sorie I. Fofanah-Alhaji and the duly elected District Executive.

Their collective position demonstrates unity, stability, and confidence in the current leadership of the Party in Bombali District.

`Women’s Leader Speaks on Peace and Stability`

The SLPP Bombali District Women’s Leader has also expressed serious concern over Mr. Taal’s conduct, describing it as disruptive and counterproductive to the peace and coexistence that have been strengthened under the leadership of Chairman Sorie I. Fofanah-Alhaji.

She emphasized the importance of preserving harmony within the Party and maintaining respect for leadership structures that are working diligently to foster unity and development across the district.

`Commitment to Discipline, Respect, and Progress`

The SLPP Bombali District Media Association strongly advises all members, supporters, and affiliates to respect party stakeholders, leaders, government officials, and established SLPP structures. Sustainable and progressive leadership can only thrive in an environment of discipline, mutual respect, and responsible engagement.

The Association remains committed to promoting accurate information, safeguarding the integrity of the Party’s image, and supporting the District Executive in its efforts to strengthen unity, stability, and development within Bombali District.

The SLPP is built on structure, discipline, and collective responsibility. We shall continue to uphold these principles for the advancement of the Party and the betterment of Bombali District.
