ILO Somalia celebrated ILO's 100th Anniversary (Centenary), in Mogadishu by inviting 100 Women Entrepreneurs who established their businesses with help of ILO and IBS Bank microfinance and training. Arounf 900 women benefitted by ILO support while Around 5,000 women started businesses thru top-up funding by Central Bank of Somalia.
Looking forward to expand this program to other areas of Somalia.

ILO-Somalia is pleased to see the Government of Somalia gradually taking on the role to promote Employment, Labour Rights and Social Protection thru SOCIAL Dialogue process. This is fully in line with ILO Conventions and great steps toward achieving Sustainable Development Goals. In first meeting of the SOMALI NATIONAL TRIPARTITE CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE (SNTCC) the representatives from Government, Employers and Workers reviewed roadmap for Decent Work COUNTRY Programme, Sustainable Development Goals and National Development Plan. The full house meeting was attended by Federal Ministry of Labour & Social Affairs, Somali Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Federation of Somali Trade Unions and representatives from all Federal Member States. 40% participants were women. A great start.

ILO Somalia facilitating a training session for Somali Journalists on ILO Convention No. 190 'Violence & Harassment at Workplaces'. More than 50 journalists attended the session - including 35 women journalists.

Congratulations to the Government of Somalia for notifying first Social Dialogue platform - 'Somali National Tripartite Consultative Committee (SNTCC)'. This Committee will assist the Government to take appropriate decisions on all Employment, Labour Protection and Social Protection issues in the country and ensure an equitable and sustainable economic growth.
