*PRESS STATEMENT ON THE ELECTIONS SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 2026 IN THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH SUDAN.*

1. Esteemed members of Political Parties Youth Forum present this letter as a token of gratitude to H.E Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit for initiating the dialogue that brought together leaders of parties and signatories to R-ARCISS to agree on key issues clearing the pathway to National democratic election in December 2026.

This milestone demonstrates our collective dedication to democracy and the people’s right to choose their leaders. We call on all our citizens to participate in this crucial process and exercise their democratic rights to vote.

2. Conclusively, the PPYF Leadership urge the Political Parties leaders and their Youth in particular to embrace and support this process through available political institutions in the country. We also appeal to our leaders in Political Parties to provide conducive environment for our people to freely participate in the forth coming democratic exercise without fear and favor, this call signifies the principles of democracy where everyone is granted opportunity by law to vote and be voted for.

The Political Parties Youth Forum today had a courtesy visit to Cde. Prof. Paul Logale Jumi, the SPLM newly appointed Secretary General.
The purpose was to congratulates him and wish him well in his assignment.

The political parties youth forum ( PPYF ) in South Sudan, today the 17th/Jan/2025, organized an engagement fourm, which brought together youth from different political parties, Civil Society and youth organizations, and the south Sudan national youth union to deliberate on the role of youth in determining the final status of Abyei Area, the participants collectively cemented the Southnization of Abyei Area and recognized the popular referendum which was conducted by the people of Abyei in which they voted with more than 98% to join The Republic Of South Sudan.
The various youth groups applauded the steps taken by Abyei Special Administrative Area Government of endorsing the popular referendum results as well as appreciated the governance cluster endorsement of the result and urged the entire council of ministers to pass the referendum result and complete the remaining technicalities.

The political parties youth fourm and the other participants also called upon the youth of South Sudan to refrain from retaliation and revenge in response to the committed atrocities and brutal extrajudicial killings of South Sudanese civilians by the Sudanese Armed Forces and it's allied forces, and strongly condemned the acts and called upon the international community, Sudanese government and the government of South Sudan to take immediate and practical measures to protect the citizens of south Sudan in Sudan.

South Sudan unveils 29 registered political parties; Riek Machar's party missing

The Political Parties Council has today unveiled a list of 29 fully registered political parties, marking a significant step towardste country’s elections scheduled for December 2024.

Notably absent from the list is the party of Riek Machar, SPLM-IO, raising questions about his participation in the 2024 elections.

Here is the list of registered parties and their leaders:
