The Secretary-General welcomes new youth membership to the party...

Today, two young people joined the Sudan People's Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) Interim Leadership.
This is part of the Interim Leadership's efforts to attract young people to the party, based on its belief in the strength and enthusiasm that young people possess, which will benefit the party in the coming period in spreading a culture of peace and unity.
Secretary-General Agok Makur welcomed both Bona Agok Aguot from Twic County, Warrap State, and Amar Said Tiera Amorja from Maban County, Upper Nile State.
Agok described their joining as an infusion of new blood, as the party needs young people as fuel for peace and development in the country for the future.

In a significant addition to the party, veteran politician Dhan Tap Luak from Longechuk County Upper Nile State announced his membership in the SPLM-IO (Interim Leadership).
Tab brings extensive experience in party work, having served in the civil authority of New Sudan in the SPLM-A liberated areas during the struggle, and was the SPLM-DC candidate in the 2010 National Parliament elections.
Tap stated that he joined the party because he believes in its program, which prioritises peace as the only option.
For his part, the party's Secretary-General, Agok Makur, welcomed the new member, describing him as highly experienced and a valuable addition to the party.

The interim leadership of the SPLM/IO responds to statements criticising the decision to revoke the membership of 47 members and appoint replacements in parliament.
describing the changes as ensuring the smooth implementation of the peace agreement and as being in line with the party's constitution.

Today, the new members of parliament from the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) Interim Leadership took the oath at the National Parliament building to officially begin their duties as representatives of the people.
This comes after their appointment last week. The party has 47 new members.

On Friday, Maulana Agok Makur, Secretary-General of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO), the interim leadership Met with Party leaders from Upper Nile State.
The delegation was led by Comrade Muzammil Ujok, Minister of Livestock and Fisheries and head of the party in the state, and was accompanied by several officials and leaders in Upper Nile State.
The meeting discussed issues related to the party in the state, particularly following the recent appointments that created controversy, after the interim leadership's approval was not obtained for the appointment of party representatives.
Secretary-General Agok Makur promised to lead the development of solutions and implement mechanisms to prevent the recurrence of these mistakes in the future through coordination and consultation within the party, as well as coordination with the other partner in the agreement (SPLM/IG).

Ambassador Stephen Par Kuol, Chairman of the SPLM- IO Interim Leadership, issued an administrative decision on Wednesday forming the party's Media and Communications Committee.
Hon. Thok Turuk was chosen as Chairman, Hon. Santino Riak Maker as his deputy, Mr Ngor James Panchol as Director of Documentation, and Ustaz Weiriel Bualang as Rapporteur.

On 29th April 2026 the Interim Chairman of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) Amb. Cde. Stephen Phar Kuol issued a directive to the newly appointed government officials in Upper Nile State who was handpicked by the Governor of Upper Nile State H.E Jacob Dollar not to take oath of office be him as scheduled.
Cde. Interim Chairman expressly informed that whonever takes oath before him will be subjected to disciplinary procidures in accordance with the party's Constitution 2015, the Internal Regulations and the Code of Conduct.

Governor Riek G*i swears in new Jonglei state ministers from SPLM IO, calls for unity and peace
The Governor of Jonglei State, Riek G*i Kok, on Tuesday presided over the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed state ministers representing SPLM-IO at a ceremony held at Jonglei’s coordination office in Juba.
The officials who took the oath of office include Maker Dak Deng as State Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement, Manyhal Riek Rial as State Minister of Roads and Bridges, Abraham Kuany Thon as State Minister of Cooperatives and Rural Development, and Alier John Panchol Alier as State Minister of Peacebuilding.
Addressing the newly appointed ministers, Governor Riek G*i Kok Diang emphasised that peace remains the core mandate of the Jonglei State Government. He urged them to work together as one administration to achieve lasting peace, reconciliation, and unity across the state.
The governor also highlighted the ongoing communal conflict in northern Jonglei, emphasising the need for collective efforts and a shift in mindset to promote sustainable peace among communities.
