DIRECTOR GENERAL JOHN TOMBE ATTENDED THE SOUTH SUDAN VETERINARY ASSOCIATION FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING ON BEHALF OF HON. ALEX LOTIYU.
This Saturday 21st March 2026. The Veterinary Association has conducted its first meeting in Juba. The Meeting drew delegates from the ten States and three Administrative Areas, aimed at electing the new Executive Board to manage the affairs of veterinarians in the country.
In his keynote address to the audience at Palm Africa Hotel, Vice President of the Republic and Chair for the Economic Cluster Prof. James Wani Igga called on the Veterinary Association to unite and work together as one team to safeguard the animals of South Sudan for the welfare of the people.
Prof. Igga reaffirmed government readiness to support the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries to advance on disease control emphasising that the Veterinary sector is crucial for the national economy and health of the animals.
The National Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Onyoti Adigo urged Veterinarian Association to contribute for the economic development of the country. Animals need to be safeguarded for the benefit of the people of South Sudan.
The Ministry of Animals Resources and Fisheries would work closely with the Association to advance animals resources for economic development.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Upper Nile University Dr. Ambrose Jubara called for the establishment of the Veterinary Council to protect the role and responsibilities of the Veterinary Association in the Country.

The Central Equatoria State Cabinet in its ordinary Council of Ministers meeting chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony listened to a memo presented by Hon. Lily Kapuki Jurkin, the State Minister of Agriculture, Environment, and Forestry on establishment of "Juba City Cleaning and Beautification Corporation" to perfect systematic collection.
The Memo aims at systematic collection, recycling, and disposal of waste while ensuring environmental compliance for the protection of public health.
Following the presentation, the Council unanimously agreed to defer the memo for further deliberation by the State Economic Cluster and incorporation of necessary recommendations.
A second memo was also presented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment, and Forestry on disputed land in Gabat, involving St. Barnabas Church. The Cabinet directed the State Ministry of Housing, Lands, and Public Utilities together with the State Ministry of Agriculture, Environment, and Forestry to suspend an ongoing construction on the disputed land as efforts are underway to reach out for amicable solutions with the church.

In an Ordinary Council of Ministers meeting chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony, the cabinet discussed various emerging concerns within the State with focus on a Memo presented by Hon. Salah Rajab Bunduki,the State Minister of Finance, Planning and Investment.
The Memo focused on the need for Resumption of E-Tax System aiming at enhancing revenue Collections, equitable management of resources transparently, and promoting accountability. Additionally, the Memo highlighted the financial progress landscape, and necessary steps in enhancing revenue Collections within the State.
Following thorough deliberations, the Cabinet applauded the timely presentation of the memo by the Minister, deferring it to the next Council's meeting for incorporation of necessary inputs. The meeting concluded with the State Government reaffirming its commitment in digitalizing taxation for an increased efficiency and transparency.
On security updates, the State Government acknowledged the full control of SSPDF in Morobo County after recent confrontations with the SPLA/IO forces in the area, while urging for calm and cooperation of the citizens in Morobo County with security forces and desist from heeding to propaganda peddled by anti-peace elements.
