On Thursday 14th May, 2026, H.E the Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson for Infrastructure Cluster Gen. Taban Deng G*i travelled to his hometown of Bentiu - Unity State for a family visit and to inspect his Farmlands in Kuerbona Boma, Wathnyotna Payam of Guit County.
Gen. Taban is known for his farming activities even when he was the governor of Unity State where he operated one of the largest mechanized farms in the country. This farm was destroyed during the war of 2013-2016.
Driven by his vision for food security, he requested an official permission from the President to allow him to revive the farm and farming activities - a permission which was duly approved.
It is in the light of the foregoing that I would like to clarify and dismiss the claims being peddled by dubious social media pages and individuals of interest that H.E 's reception in Bentiu did not receive the required state reception of a senior government official.
Despite being a private mission, H.E Gen. Taban received a befitting welcome by state government led by deputy governor and state ministers as the governor was outside state headquarters mourning beloved mother in Mayom County.
The public is there asked to disregard any fake news.
