Today, Hon. Dr. Jacob Akuochpiir Achuoth Minister of Health โ Lakes State, officially received 3,000 bottles of anti-malarial medicines for children under five years of age, a decisive step toward reducing the malaria burden across our state.
This intervention is implemented under the leadership of H.E. Maj. Gen. Madhang Majok Meen, Governor of Lakes State, in line with the Governmentโs policy to strengthen primary healthcare, protect vulnerable populations, and improve access to essential medicines.
The strategic partnership support from Real Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. reflects the growing confidence and power of public private collaboration
and meaningful of social cooperate responsiblity demonstrates that strong leadership and credible institutions attract meaningful partnerships. Under the direction of the State Ministry of Health, we are reinforcing reliable supply chains and ensuring that essential medicines reach every facility and every child in need.
We commend CUAMM our implementing partner for ensuring effective last-mile distribution ( LDM) will cover Rumbek State Hospital, Yirol and Cueibet County Hospitals, and PHCCs based on the approved allocation plan and facility workload ensuring equity, efficiency, and accountability.
Malaria remains a public health priority. Through coordinated government leadership and strategic partnerships, Lakes State is advancing child survival and strengthening institutional service delivery.

๐๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐ฒ 24, ๐๐๐๐- Hon Dr Jacob Akuochpiir Achuoth has returned to Juba after he participated as a panelist in a conference organized by Health Initiative South Sudan ( HISS) in Hamburg - Germany
Hon Minister Dr Kok held several productive meetings with various development partners, who pledged their support for South Sudan in the critical areas of maternal and child healthcare. This represents a significant commitment and strides to improving maternal and child health outcomes.
On capacity Building programs he successfully negotiated agreements with private donors to support capacity building within our healthcare system. Specifically, we agreed to facilitate the training of three medical doctors from Lakes state abroad in Ethiopia as a pilot program commencing this year through the Health Initiative South Sudan Germany and expect to increase the number of supported doctors gradually each year.
We also received generous donations of medical equipment, including gastroscope instruments, sterilization equipment for the operating theatre, anesthesia machines, and assorted surgical instruments. These donations will significantly enhance our ability to provide safe and affordable surgical care to our communities.

Hon Dr Jacob Akuochpiir Achuoth has participated in an event in Hamburg - Germany ๐ฉ๐ช as a gesture of appreciation for productive cooperation between State Ministry of Health and Health initiative South Sudan Hamburg - Germany . The purpose of this event was to introduce the humanitarian work that Health Initiative South Sudan has been doing in South
Sudan. Specially the outreach campaign that has been conducted in cooperation with Lakes State Ministry of Health at Rumbek State Hospital in November 2024
In remak by minister Hon Dr Kok recognized the vital importance of maternal and child health care services the Health initiative South Sudan programs have been instrumental in ensuring that mothers and their children receive the essential medical attention they deserve. The initiatives put in place to promote safe facility deliveries, prenatal care, maternal health education are saving lives and lifting families out
of adversity. Each healthy newborn and every empowered mother stands as a testament to the
impact of your hard work.
Hon Dr Kok also emphasized not to overlook the critical role of capacity building by equipping and training our healthcare professionals with the latest knowledge, innovation and practical skills, and ensuring no mother dies while giving birth.
South Sudan has the highest maternal mortality rates 1223 deaths per 100000 live births, therefore we need to strengthen our health facilities to deliver care that meets the healthcare quality standards.
Furthermore we call for Development partners for humanitarian assistance to South Sudan after the Global fund budget cuts by USAID to Support HiV/ AIDS, Malaria and TB more funds to address the gaps in health care services in South Sudan and in particularly Lakes State.
H.E Ambassador Gum Dominic Mathiok Head of Mission of South Sudan embassy in Germany ๐ฉ๐ช emphasized the role of Government to facilitate all the humanitarian assistance to South Sudan and he encouraged all the humanitarian organizations to work together with the government for peace and prosperity of people of South Sudan.
Dr Diana Joseph Mathubier the chairwoman of Health Initiative South Sudan Germany ๐ฉ๐ช underscored the need to continue the collaboration with ministry of health to promote health care of people of South Sudan
Dr Joseph also expressed her appreciation to the leadership of the country and acknowledged the efforts of the Government of South Sudan ๐ธ๐ธ to improve health sector. She promised several projects in pipeline such as surgical outreaches and capacity building for healthcare workers to reduce the maternal and neonatal mortality rate in the country.

Lakes state Ministry of Health in partnership with Health Initiative South Sudan in Germany ๐ฉ๐ช- Hamburg has successfully completely renovated Maternity unit ( Labour Ward ) in Rumbek state Hospital , was funded by Health initiative South Sudan Germany ๐ฉ๐ชand will be inaugurated soon by The Governor of Lakes state H.E Lt.Gen Rin Tueny Mabor .
Health Initiative South Sudan has also donated medical equipments including (hydraulic delivery couches 3 units) and surgical instruments to enhance surgery in Rumbek State Hospital
The Ministry aims to provide effective quality healthcare services close to the family as possible and promote safe facility delivery to reduce maternal mortality rates This ensures equity of access to health service delivery.

Rapid Response team (RRT) visited Malek phayam , villages Lang- Matot , Thian and Becui
SMoH, CHD of Yirol East and partners are working to curb the spread of cholera by providing of accurate information , creating awareness to protect and case management, consrsupport high risk communities .
In streamline with state Ministry of health agendas leave no one behind The Rapid response teams also distributed to Becui fishermanโs camp ( no network coverage) with medical supplies ( cholera kits )and IPC kits , Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS) and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Materials to draw attention to information about the Cholera outbreak .

1- Wash your hands with Soap under safe running water before eating, cooking,or after using toilet .
2- Food -Tea vendors should wash cups , plates and cutlery with Soap and safe water before use .

4- Throughly wash fruits and vegetables before eating.
5- Eat hot steaming food, avoid cold food.
6 - Drink safe water, if you donโt have access to potable water , boiled water before drinking
7- If you have acute diarrhea, Drinks ORS+ Zinc and Visit the nearest health facility immediately
