A week-long entrepreneurial training programme for the 15 participants under the Malkerns Youth Entrepreneurship Development Programme was successfully conducted this week. Facilitated by ENtrepreneurial ACTion for US Eswatini and partners, the training equipped young people with valuable business knowledge and entrepreneurial skills.
During the sessions, Eswatini Revenue Service engaged participants on taxation and its relationship with business, helping the youth understand the importance of business compliance and financial responsibility.
Furthermore, Eswatini National Youth Council led an inspiring session on Mindset Change, encouraging participants to embrace growth, innovation, and a positive outlook as future entrepreneurs and leaders.
The Youth Empowerment Programme continues to inspire, educate, and empower the youth through impactful partnerships and meaningful learning opportunities aimed at building a brighter and more sustainable future for the young people of Malkerns.

Today the team continued with infrastructure improvements by patching potholes on various roads within the town. The works are aimed at improving road conditions, enhancing safety, and ensuring a smoother driving experience for motorists and pedestrians alike.
Malkerns Town Council remains committed to maintaining road infrastructure and creating a safer, more accessible environment for the community.

Empowering Youth Through Entrepreneurship
Today, Malkerns Town Council in partnership with ENtrepreneurial ACTion for US Eswatini officially launched the Malkerns Youth Entrepreneurship Development Programme.
The 12-month programme will empower 15 young people from Malkerns through entrepreneurship development and mentorship, as part of ongoing efforts to address the high unemployment rate.
In his remarks, the Mayor reaffirmed Council’s commitment to creating an enabling environment that supports youth empowerment, economic participation, and community development.
ENtrepreneurial ACTion for US Eswatini also assured the young entrepreneurs of continuous support throughout the programme as they embark on their entrepreneurial journey.

MEET THE NEW LEADERSHIP
The Council held its inaugural meeting for the 2026–2027 term, during which new leadership was elected. Councillor Sipho Shongwe was elected as Chairperson, while Councillor Kevin Charles was elected Deputy Chairperson.
For the Finance Committee, Councillor Makhosazana Nxumalo was elected as Finance Chairperson, with Councillor Billee FitzPatrick elected as Deputy Finance Chairperson. Councillor Kenny Kunene was also elected to serve as a member of the Finance Committee.
The Council wishes the newly elected leadership a successful term as they serve the people of Malkerns with dedication and the community at heart.
