Today, the Directorate of Industrial and Vocational Training (DIVT), under the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, has commenced workshops for the development of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) for NQF Levels 2–4 in the following trades:
• Automobile Electrician
• Fashion Technology
• Plumbing and Heating
The workshops are funded by the Taiwan Technical Mission and GFA Consulting Group and are aimed at developing unit standard-based vocational qualifications that will contribute towards the formulation of trade testing standards, apprenticeship and learnership training guides, as well as curriculum development for vocational institutions. This initiative seeks to promote uniformity, quality assurance, and alignment with the Eswatini National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
The workshops will bring together industry experts and vocational institution instructors, with attendance strictly by invitation and will run for 3 days.

The Ministry is today conducting a training session at Tisuka TakaNgwane on the establishment of Works Councils in the workplace.., in accordance with Section 52 of the Industrial Relations Act, 2000.
The training aims to strengthen workplace cooperation, promote effective communication between employers and employees, and enhance understanding of labour relations in the workplace.

This evening, the Minister Honourable Phila Buthelezi visited Golden Frog in Matsapha, accompanied by Members of the Portfolio Committee from the House of Assembly, the Ministry’s Principal Secretary, Mr. Makhosini Mndawe, the Labour Commissioner, Mr. Kingdom Mamba, and other Ministry officials.
The visit followed concerns raised by employees regarding working conditions and general labour practices within the company. The Honourable Minister engaged with management to verify the allegations and assess compliance with labour regulations.
During the visit, several issues affecting workers were identified, including matters related to remuneration, workplace conduct, training opportunities, and overall employment conditions. While management refuted some of the concerns, others were acknowledged, with a commitment made to address and rectify them.
The Ministry is committed to promoting fair labour practices and will continue engaging all present in the meeting to ensure adherence to labour standards

Today ,the Ministry through the Measurement and Testing Department, is training Extra Clerical Officers to administer Aptitude Tests and the Self-Directed Search (SDS) in secondary schools in the Hhohho region.
The programme targets Form 3 and Grade 9 learners for aptitude testing, and Grade 11 and 12 learners for the SDS testing.
