Today, the Premier, Hon. Charles Washington Misick, attended the Certification Ceremony for the Elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission (EMTCT) of HIV and Hepatitis B in the Turks and Caicos Islands, marking a historic achievement for the nation.
In his remarks, the Premier described the certification as a defining moment in the country's history and a testament to years of dedication, strategic planning, strong partnerships, and the unwavering commitment of healthcare professionals, public servants, community organizations, and families across the Islands.
He praised the Ministry of Health and Human Services and regional and international partners for their leadership and collaboration in helping the Turks and Caicos Islands become the first country in the region to achieve validation for the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV and Hepatitis B. Today, the Premier Honourable Charles Washington Misick attended and officially declared operational the Turks and Caicos Islands Statistics Authority as a statutory body, marking a historic milestone in strengthening good governance, transparency, and evidence based national development.
The establishment of the Authority reflects the Government’s commitment to building a modern, data driven public sector that supports informed decision making, accountability, and sustainable growth for the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
As a statutory body, the Authority will serve as an independent and trusted national institution dedicated to producing high quality, reliable statistics to guide policy, empower communities, and support the continued advancement of our nation.

Premier Honourable Charles Washington Misick met with Denver Mayor Mike Johnston on Thursday, May 20, 2026, as part of the Premier’s ongoing roadshow across the United States to strengthen strategic partnerships and expand opportunities for the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Discussions focused on deepening cooperation between Denver and the Turks and Caicos Islands, including the possibility of establishing direct air service between Denver, Colorado, and Providenciales.
With Denver International Airport recognised as one of the busiest airports in the world, direct connectivity would create a major opportunity for the Turks and Caicos Islands to access a wider travel market across Colorado and the western United States. It would also support increased visitor arrivals, strengthen tourism growth, open new investment and business opportunities, and make the Turks and Caicos Islands more accessible to travellers from a key U.S. gateway.
Both Premier Misick and Mayor Johnston agreed that enhanced air connectivity would be mutually beneficial, creating stronger links between the two destinations and supporting long-term economic, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Denver, Colorado, 21st May, 2026 — The Turks and Caicos Islands has warmly welcomed a proclamation presented last evening by Colorado Governor Jared Polis declaring May 20th 2026,Turks and Caicos Islands Friendship Day in the State of Colorado.
The presentation took place during a reception following the Premier’s meeting with Governor Polis yesterday morning and a special state luncheon at the Governor’s Mansion. The engagement formed part of the Premier’s roadshow, which continues to strengthen relationships with key partners and promote the Turks and Caicos Islands as a premier destination for tourism, investment and collaboration.
