Happening Now: Taxpayers Education Day!
The Revenue Department is the revenue collection/administration arm of the Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TCIG).
The Revenue Control Unit was redesignated to the Revenue Department on 1 November 2012. The primary roles of the Department are as follows:
1) Administration of the following revenue streams:
o Hotel and Restaurant Tax
o Domestic Financial Services Sales Tax
o Insurance Premium Sales Tax
o Vehicle Hire Stamp Duty
o Seaport Departure Tax
o Business License
2) Oversight responsibility for other revenue generating/collecting departments

MINISTRY OF FINANCE PLANS TAXPAYERS EDUCATION DAY
The Revenue Department (RD) is hosting Annual Taxpayers Education Day- on Friday, November 18th 2016.
The event is being held at Butterfield Square in Providenciales and Hibiscus Square in Grand Turk both from 10 am to 3 pm.
The primary focus is to inform and educate taxpayers and improve awareness on the various services administered by Revenue Departments in efforts to improve voluntary compliance.
"The Taxpayer Education Day is an annual event hosted by the Revenue Department to showcase the achievements of the Department, educate taxpayers on the application of the various taxes and most importantly, show appreciation to those taxpayers who have been compliant over the year. It is our hope that this event continues to promote voluntary compliance thus improving overall revenue collections," says Mrs. Cynthia Castillo-Wineglass – Commissioner of Revenues.
Other highlights of the day include: launching of the Department’s Customer Service Charter and promotion of our Website, page, Instagram and the upcoming E-Business Initiatives.

BUSINESS LICENCE ARREARS
The Revenue Department reminds Business Licence Holders to settle delinquent accounts on or before March 31st 2016.
All businesses with business licensing arrears at that date will be issued notices of suspension and revocation as prescribed in Sections 10 & 11 of the Business Licence Ordinance.
Business Licence Holders are reminded that a Business Licence is not transferrable and as such, the sale of a business or transfer of shares must be immediately followed up with a cancellation notice to the Revenue Department. The new owners are required to acquire a new Business Licence through the application process.

To serve you better with even more space, the Revenue Department will be moving to a new facility in Butterfield Square, Down Town, Providenciales. This move will take effect on 25th April 2016. Our new location is just northwest of the Town Square Mall in Butterfield Square. Our telephone and fax numbers remain the same.

INTRODUCTION OF BUSINESS LICENCE CHECKLIST
The Revenue Department continues to strengthen Customer Service initiatives with the introduction of a Business Licence Application & Renewal Checklist.
The checklist is designed to indicate to applicants the licences, clearances and other supporting documents required for each business type and activity. A checklist must be attached to all applications and incomplete applications will not be accepted. Please note that the Revenue Department reserves that right to request any further information as deemed necessary to process a Business Licence application.
The introduction of the checklist is intended to increase transparency and mitigate delays in processing. The Officers of the Revenue Department are available to address any concerns.

STAFF OF TCI REVENUE DEPARTMENT VISITS FAMILY ISLANDS
During the month of February 2016 the Revenue Department commenced a series of visits to the Family Islands.
The primary objective of these visits are to strengthen the Department’s presence and relationship with stakeholders in the Islands.
The Public is advised the visits will continue during the month of March. The schedule is as follows:
Salt Cay & Grand Turk March 18
South Caicos March 16
North & Middle Caicos March 17 - 18
Parrot Cay March 17 – 18
Please note that monthly visits will continue beyond this period.

COLLECTION AND DISPLAY OF BUSINESS LICENCE CERTIFICATES
The Revenue Department (RD) hereby reminds the general public that Business Licence Certificates are available for collection at the various assigned Revenue Department Offices. Business Owners are urged to collect and display their Business Licences prominently in the place of business. This is in regards to section 16 of the Business Licence Ordinance which states:
“The Holder of a licence shall display the licence in a conspicuous place on any premises occupied by him for the purpose of carrying on business and shall produce such licence for inspection when requested to do so by the Permanent Secretary, Finance or a person authorized by him in that behalf, or a Police Officer not below the rank of Sergeant.”
A Business Owner may be liable for a fine of $1000, if he or she fails to properly display the business licence within his/her business.
Business Licence holders are hereby urged to collect outstanding licences immediately. Officers of the Revenue Department are available to address any concerns.
