วันที่ 14 เมษายน 2568 กลุ่ม Future Forest ได้นำบะหมี่กึ่งสำเร็จรูป จำนวน 2 ลัง 360 ซอง ไปมอบให้แก่ผู้พิทักษ์ป่า ณ อุทยานแห่งชาติน้ำตกคลองแก้ว จังหวัดตราด

ผมหวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่าสิ่งที่ผมมอบให้ในวันนี้จะช่วยให้พี่ๆมีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีขึ้น ผมอยากขอบคุณและขอเป็นอีกหนึ่งกำลังใจให้กับพี่ๆผู้พิทักษ์ป่าทุกท่านที่ช่วยดูแลผืนป่าแทนพวกเราคนไทยทุกคนครับ

On the 14th of April 2025, the Future Forest group has donated 360 packs of instant noodles to the forest rangers of Namtok Khlong Kaeo National Park, in Trat province.

I greatly hope that this donation will improve the forest rangers’ quality of life, and I would like to thank all of the forest rangers for conserving the forests of Thailand for all of us.

On the 22nd of December 2024, the Future Forest group has donated portable water filters, rice, dried food and dinnerware to the forest rangers of Pang Sida National Park, in Sa Kaeo province. I hope this will improve their quality of life and support them in conserving our forests.

The genus Orthomiella, also known as the “Straight-Wing Blues” consist of two species in Thailand: O.rantaizana and O.fukienensis. Both are species are small in size and inhabit high-altitude montane forests in Chiang Mai province such as Doi Inthanon and Doi Pha Hom Pok. Interestingly, they are also univoltine, meaning they produce only one brood of offspring per year, a characteristic also shared with many other high-altitude species. Indeed, the adult butterflies mostly appear around February and spend the rest of the year in their immature stages. Although they may appear rather drab looking, I found them very fun to photograph and definitely spent some time doing so!

ผีเสื้อสกุล Orthomiella หรือที่รู้จักกันในชื่อ “ผีเสื้อฟ้าปีกตรง” มีสองชนิดในประเทศไทย ได้แก่ O.rantaizana และ O.fukienensis ทั้งสองชนิดนี้มีขนาดเล็กและอาศัยอยู่ตามป่าดิบเขาระดับความสูงในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เช่น ดอยอินทนนท์และดอยผ้าห่มปก สิ่งที่น่าสนใจคือผีเสื้อทั้งสองชนิดนี้เป็นผีเสื้อที่ออกลูกได้เพียงรุ่นเดียวต่อปี ซึ่งเหมือนกับผีเสื้อชนิดอื่นๆ ที่พบตามป่าดิบเขาที่ระดับความสูงเช่นกัน ผีเสื้อตัวเต็มวัยมักจะปรากฏตัวในช่วงเดือนกุมภาพันธ์และใช้เวลาที่เหลือของปีในระยะตัวอ่อน แม้ว่าผีเสื้อจะไม่ค่อยมีสีสัน แต่ผมคิดว่าการถ่ายรูปผีเสื้อทั้งสองชนิดนี้เป็นเรื่องที่สนุกมาก และผมก็ใช้เวลาถ่ายรูปมันอยู่พักหนึ่ง!

One of my favorite groups of butterflies is the Iolaini tribe, commonly referred to as ‘Royals’ or ‘Imperials’. In Thailand, this tribe is currently represented by a total of 46 beautiful species, all of which are relatively small butterflies and primarily feed on mistletoes during their larval stage. One particularly unique species is the Azure Royal (Britomartis cleoboides), being the sole representative of its genus in Thailand. This species can be distinguished from other morphologically similar genera by having a combination of greyish eyes and a complete absence of veins 8 and 9 on the forewing. In Thailand, it is restricted to the southern provinces, and I was lucky to meet a considerable number of them in Nakhon Si Thammarat. I observed them to mostly reside in the shaded undergrowth, above which their host plant, parasitic mistletoes, were growing in abundance at the canopy. They were quite skittish and almost always perched underneath the foliage, making photography all the more challenging. It definitely took me a while to get some decent photos!

กลุ่มผีเสื้ออีกกลุ่มหนึ่งที่ผมชื่นชอบคือผีเสื้อกลุ่ม Iolaini
ซึ่งมักเรียกกันว่าผีเสื้อหางคู่ ในประเทศไทย ผีเสื้อกลุ่มที่สวยงามนี้มีอยู่ทั้งหมด 46 ชนิด โดยทั้งหมดเป็นผีเสื้อที่มีขนาดค่อนข้างเล็กและกินพืชอาหารจำพวกกาฝากเป็นหลักในระยะตัวอ่อน หนึ่งในผีเสื้อสายพันธุ์พิเศษนี้คือ ผีเสื้อหางคู่ฟ้าหนวดตุ้ม (Britomartis cleoboides) ซึ่งเป็นผีเสื้อสายพันธุ์เดียวในสกุลนี้ที่พบในประเทศไทย ผีเสื้อสายพันธุ์นี้สามารถแยกแยะได้จากผีเสื้อสายพันธุ์อื่นที่มีลักษณะคล้ายกัน คือมีดวงตาสีเทาและไม่มีเส้นปีก 8 และ 9 บนปีกคู่หน้า ในประเทศไทย ผีเสื้อสายพันธุ์นี้พบได้เฉพาะจังหวัดทางภาคใต้เท่านั้น และผมรู้สึกโชคดีที่ได้เจอพวกมันเป็นจำนวนมากในจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช ผมสังเกตเห็นว่าผีเสื้อสายพันธุ์นี้ส่วนใหญ่อาศัยอยู่ในป่าชั้นล่างใต้ร่มไม้ ซึ่งมีพืชอาหารของผีเสื้อสายพันธุ์นี้ขึ้นอยู่เป็นจำนวนมากบนยอดไม้ ผีเสื้อสายพันธุ์นี้มีพฤติกรรมค่อนข้างขี้ตกใจและมักจะเกาะอยู่ใต้ใบไม้ตลอดเวลา ทำให้การถ่ายภาพเป็นเรื่องที่ท้าทายเป็นอย่างมาก ผมเลยต้องใช้เวลาสักพักกว่าจะได้ภาพสวยๆ สักรูปครับ!

ไก่ฟ้าพญาลอ (Siamese Fireback) เป็นนกประจำชาติของประเทศไทย เป็นสัตว์ป่าคุ้มครอง และเป็นหนึ่งในสัตว์ป่าสวยงามหลากหลายชนิดที่อาศัยอยู่ในผืนป่าดงพญาเย็น-เขาใหญ่ หากไม่มีผืนป่าให้สัตว์เหล่านี้อาศัยอยู่ อนาคต เราอาจจะไม่ได้เห็นสัตว์เหล่านี้อีกต่อไป

Important record of Telicota bambusae bambusae (Moore, 1878) in Thailand
รายงานสำคัญของผีเสื้อหนอนปาล์มสีเข้มในประเทศไทย

ในประเทศไทย สกุล Telicota Moore, 1881 มี 6 ชนิดที่ได้รับการบันทึกไว้อย่างน่าเชื่อถือจนถึงปัจจุบัน เนื่องจากผีเสื้อในสกุล Telicota ส่วนใหญ่มีลายที่คล้ายกันมาก การจำแนกชนิดจึงยอมรับโดยการตรวจอวัยวะเพศผู้เท่านั้น ในสกุลนี้ ผีเสื้อหนอนปาล์มสีเข้ม (Telicota bambusae) เป็นหนึ่งในชนิดที่มีข้อมูลและรายงานการพบน้อยมากในประเทศไทย อยู่มาวันหนึ่ง ผมพบเจอหนอนสกุล Telicota จำนวนหนึ่งกินต้นไผ่บางชนิดในกรุงเทพฯ มันดูค่อนข้างแปลกและผมก็สงสัยว่ามันอาจเป็นชนิดที่น่าสนใจ ผมจึงเลี้ยงและส่งตัวอย่างเพศผู้เพื่อระบุชนิด และมันก็เป็นผีเสื้อ Telicota bambusae อย่างที่ผมคิดจริงๆ และนี่จึงเป็นอีกหนึ่งรายงานสำคัญและน่าเชื่อถือสำหรับผีเสื้อชนิดนี้ในประเทศไทย ผมเชื่อว่าชนิดนี้อาจหาไม่ยาก แต่เพียงถูกมองข้ามเนื่องจากมีความคล้ายคลึงกับชนิดอื่นๆในกลุ่มเดียวกัน

In Thailand, 6 species of the genus Telicota Moore, 1881 have been reliably recorded so far. As most Telicota species have very similar markings, reliable identification is generally accepted only by examination of the male genitalia. Out of them, the Dark Palm Dart (Telicota bambusae) is one of the most little-known species in Thailand, with very few reliable records. One day however, I found a number of Telicota larvae feeding on some bamboo plants in Bangkok. They seemed quite unusual and I suspected they were something interesting. After rearing them and sending a male specimen for identification, it indeed turned out to be the elusive Telicota bambusae: thus being another important and reliable distributional record for Thailand. I suspect this species may not be as rare as it seems, but simply overlooked due to its close resemblance with other species.
