💡 Out now: A Regional Common Use Transmission Assets Concept for Advancing Multilateral Power Trade in ASEAN
Did you know? Expanding multilateral power trade (MPT) in ASEAN requires new cross-border transmission projects.
While most new grid-to-grid transmission projects in ASEAN are bilateral, with MPT benefits being secondary, some grid-to-grid transmission projects called as “common use assets” - provide regional benefits, enabling MPT among multiple ASEAN member states (AMS).
This policy brief produced as an output of the ASEAN Power Grid Advancement Program (APG-AP) draws insights from a “Roadmap for Multilateral Power Trade in ASEAN” that discusses the concept of regional common-use transmission assets to support MPT in ASEAN, highlighting best practices in financing, cost allocation, and development from other regions as it coincides with the development process of the (APG).
