Ambassador Szilvia gave a lecture titled "Hungary - A Bridge Between East and West: Logistics, innovation, and opportunities" within the framework of the Embassy Talk Initiative series at King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok, on April 22. Her Excellency introduced the developments of recent years that have made Hungary one of Europe's most important logistics hubs, and the opportunities for students to study in Hungary. Zoltán Matányi, Head of AsiaHabit International, presented the exciting secrets and challenges of building a business as a Hungarian in Thailand.

Ambassador Szilvia, accompanied by the Embassy's new foreign trade attaché, Mr. Benedek Vigh, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Chayant Muangsing, Secretary-General of the สำนักงานทรัพยากรน้ำแห่งชาติ / Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR), on Wednesday, April 21. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations between Thailand and Hungary. Due to climate change, both floods and droughts pose an increasing threat to Thailand, making Hungary's experience and expertise particularly valuable. High-level and constructive cooperation will continue this summer with the next meeting of the Bilateral Water Management Agreement's steering committee meeting in Bangkok. 🇭🇺🤝🇹🇭

Not only in Thailand, but Hungary also celebrates with water splashing!
Locsolkodás is a unique Hungarian Easter Monday tradition where men and boys visit women to recite poems and sprinkle them with water or perfume for health, fertility, and renewal. Rooted in ancient, rural customs, modern city versions use perfume, while villages often use buckets of water, often rewarded with hand-painted eggs, sweets, or traditional fruit brandy.
Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year festival, this year celebrated from April 13th to 15th, which has become renowned worldwide as "water festival". Rooted in Buddhist and Hindu traditions, the word "Songkran" comes from Sanskrit, meaning "astrological passage" or "change," marking the sun's move into Aries.
From Easter in Hungary to Songkran in Thailand, water plays a central symbolic role, representing purification, cleaning, and the washing away of bad luck to welcome a fresh start.
