On International Women's Day (Mar. 8), we salute all women who are making a difference in the world -- mothers, peacekeepers, teachers, human rights activists, entrepreneurs, etc. Their roles and rights should be promoted and protected and their specific needs taken into account. Violence against women and girls should never be tolerated. For women prisoners and offenders, we hope further implementation of "The Bangkok Rules" (A/RES/65/229) will bring positive change in their lives and in the world.
