Princess Sirivannavari Supports Thai Paralympic Athletes
Through CheerTeamThai Collection
Proceeds from the SIRIVANNAVARI limited edition collection
support the Paralympic Thai Committee leading up to the 5th
Asian Para Games 2026

Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya appointed Ms. Ratirod Chulajata, Deputy CEO of Iris 2005 Co., Ltd., which operates the SIRIVANNAVARI brand, as Her Royal Highness’s representative to present a royal donation from a portion of the proceeds from the limited-edition “CheerTeamThai” collection to the Paralympic Thai Committee.
The donation will help promote and develop sports for persons with disabilities in Thailand, while supporting the continued development and well-being of athletes. It will also support the preparation and participation of Thai national Paralympic athletes in international competitions, including the Asian Para Games and other major sporting events, creating opportunities for Thai Paralympic athletes to develop their potential and achieve success on the international stage.
On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya also bestowed caps from the CheerTeamThai collection as a gesture of encouragement and support to the Thai national Paralympic team as they prepare to travel to compete in the 5th Asian Para Games 2026, which will take place from 18–24 October 2026 in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan. The event represents another important international platform for Thailand’s national Paralympic athletes to compete and bring pride to the nation.
Maj.Gen.Osoth Bhavilai, Secretary-General of the Paralympic Thai Committee, represented in receiving the donation, together with representatives of the Thai national Paralympic team.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat has called for the identification and development of local “Mastery” to strengthen Thailand’s creative economy and competitiveness.

Speaking at the 2026 National Conference of the Council of Deans of Humanities and Social Sciences of Rajabhat Universities at Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University on October 7, Minister Yodchanan said Thailand possesses valuable human and cultural capital, including arts, music, cuisine, history and local wisdom.

He said these strengths could be transformed into innovative products and services by integrating local knowledge with science, technology, creativity and artificial intelligence, while preserving Thai identity.

The Minister highlighted the role of Rajabhat Universities in mapping local cultural assets, identifying unique areas of expertise and connecting communities with researchers, businesses and entrepreneurs.

He said Thailand should aim to become a “Nation of Master,” empowering people and communities to develop deep expertise and create sustainable economic opportunities.

Labour Minister Julapun Amornvivat has opened a public consultation on the Social Security Office’s five-year action plan for 2028–2032, aimed at providing sustainable and accessible protection for workers in all forms of employment.

Mr. Julapun said the new plan is needed as the current framework expires in 2027, while Thailand faces major changes including an ageing population, concerns over the Social Security Fund’s stability, changing employment patterns and growing demand for digital services.

The draft plan envisions “sustainable, reliable social security accessible to workers in all forms of employment.” It focuses on strengthening organisational foundations, digital systems, data governance and workforce management during its first two years, alongside four strategic priorities to improve the system.

Mr. Julapun also said preparations were complete for the October 11 election of employer and insured-person representatives to the Social Security Board.

The consultation will gather stakeholder views to help develop a comprehensive plan responsive to workers’ future needs.

Captain Patdarasm Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Government Spokesperson, says the government is accelerating preparations for the Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026, scheduled to open on November 1, with a focus on facilities, activities, public convenience, safety and environmental management.

As of September 24, construction of buildings, utilities and landscaping was 96.31 percent complete. Preparations for royal commemorative and academic exhibitions, technology and innovation displays, international and corporate gardens, seminars, competitions and publicity campaigns are also progressing as planned.

Captain Patdarasm said the Expo organizing office holds weekly meetings with relevant agencies and contractors to monitor progress, address obstacles and ensure that transportation, utilities, security and venue management are ready on time.

The Expo will run from November 1, 2026 to March 14, 2027 at Nong Daeng Wetland in Udon Thani under the theme “Diversity of Life: Connecting People, Water, and Plants for Sustainable Living.”

🇹🇭🇫🇮 Thailand Explores AI-Powered Mathematics Learning with Finnish EdTech Platform

Mr. Akranant Kankittinan, Deputy Minister of Education, welcomed a delegation from Eduten, Finland, and the Embassy of Finland in Thailand, led by Mr. Jussi Pekka, Executive and Head of Government Partnerships at Eduten, to discuss ways to promote mathematics learning through an AI-powered platform.

The initiative follows cooperation between the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) and Eduten to launch a free pilot programme in 100 schools. Developed from research at the University of Turku in Finland, the platform combines AI with game-based learning to help students improve their mathematics skills while providing teachers with data on students’ learning progress.

Deputy Minister proposed extending the pilot from two months to one semester, or around four months, to allow more comprehensive assessment in real classroom settings. Eduten will consider the proposal and work with OBEC to adjust the implementation plan, including adapting the content to Thailand’s curriculum, training teachers and monitoring learning outcomes.

🇹🇭 🇯🇵 Thailand Seeks Japan’s Nobel Laureates’ Expertise to Advance Research and Address National Challenges

On 5 October 2026, Professor Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) held talks with two Nobel Prize-winning chemists — Professor Dr. Susumu Kitagawa of Kyoto University, who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2025, and Koichi Tanaka of Shimadzu Corporation, who won the prize in 2002 — as Thailand seeks to draw on world-class expertise to address national challenges and strengthen its research capabilities.

Talks with Professor Kitagawa focused on the potential use of porous materials to address Thailand’s PM2.5 air pollution problem. The discussions also covered the progress of Atomis, a startup based on Professor Kitagawa’s research that aims to develop new materials from air.

Professor Kitagawa urged Thailand to “invest boldly” in basic science, even when commercial returns are not immediately visible, and recommended sustained government support over the long term, including investment in the next generation of researchers.

Meanwhile, Nobel laureate Koichi Tanaka said Thailand has a strong strategy in pursuing the wellness industry, which requires expertise from multiple disciplines. He also encouraged Thai researchers to break down traditional boundaries between scientific fields, noting that future innovation will increasingly depend on cross-disciplinary collaboration.

🇹🇭 🇯🇵 Thailand and Japan Advance Cooperation in Advanced Research and Emerging Technologies ⚛

On 5 October 2026, Professor Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), led a delegation to meet Professor Yasuto Tachikawa, President of Kyoto University, and Professor Atsushi Kumanogo, President of Osaka University, to advance cooperation in cutting-edge research and innovation between Thailand and Japan.

A key outcome of the visit was the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) between the Director of Thailand’s National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) and the Executive Vice President of Kyoto University. The agreement is expected to provide a framework for further collaboration in advanced research and technology development.

Discussions with Kyoto University focused on advanced semiconductor research and AI for Materials Science, including the use of Federated Learning and linking Kyoto’s AI4M-hub with Thailand’s “Siam Silica” project to accelerate semiconductor development. Meanwhile, cooperation with Osaka University will expand beyond its existing partnership with Mahidol University to cover emerging fields such as medical AI, Physical AI, IC design, biosensors, and quantum computing.

Both also plan to establish a joint research matching fund and an online researcher matchmaking to connect Thai and Japanese researchers, as well as to create opportunities to encourage more Japanese students to undertake research in Thailand, further strengthening academic and technological ties between the two countries.
