Ambassador Rukhsana Afzaal attended an event for awareness and fundraising for Indus Hospital & Health Network together with Dr Abdul Bari Khan, founding President of IHHN and his team.

The event highlighted Indus Hospital’s outstanding work in providing free, quality healthcare to millions across Pakistan. The Ambassador appreciated the team’s dedication and emphasized the importance of international collaboration in healthcare and research.

Ambassador Rukhsana Afzaal attended the 82nd Session of UNESCAP on 20 April 2026. The Amb underscored Pakistan’s commitment and efforts to achieving the 2030 Agenda and reiterated the need for global and regional cooperation to build a resilient future for all.

Ambassador Rukhsana Afzaal met Foreign Minister H.E Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They discussed issues of common interest between the two countries and possible convening of the restructured Joint Commission this year at the Foreign Ministers level in Bangkok.

Ambassador Rukhsana Afzaal met with Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Higher Education Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), Thailand, to explore new avenues of academic collaboration between Pakistan and Thailand.

Discussions focused on initiatives by COMSTECH, including:
-Establishment of Halal Science Training Centres at Chulalongkorn University and Prince of Songkla University
-100 scholarships for Thai students in STEM fields in Pakistan
-A proposed Rectors & Vice Chancellors Conference in Islamabad
-Enhanced university-to-university partnerships and research collaboration

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding educational cooperation, promoting student mobility, and empowering future generations, especially women in STEM.

Marking 75 years of Pakistan–Thailand diplomatic relations, the meeting reflects a shared vision for deeper academic and scientific engagement.
