Friday,11. November 2011 A practice nurse from Thailand is working on board. Artittaya in front of the G.A.R.D ambulance station in Hamburg-Wandsbek... She is very impressed with the big ambulance and its equipments of G.A.R.D.-RTW From 08 to 11 November the G.A.R.D station in Hamburg-Wandsbek had another colleague. Artittaya Taotho from Thailand did her (hospital) internship for 4 days at G.A.R.D. as a rescue assistant and she will practice and experience more on her internship as an ambulance rescuer in Germany. For her internship at G.A.R.D she spent 2 days at the ambulance cars and two days on the intensive ambulance car transporting patients. At home in Bangkok, Artittaya works for the Royal Thai Army as a practical nurse. In this position, she provides nursing care to patients, not only in the hospital, but also in the ambulance car when there is accidence. For her internship she will spend 4 weeks in Germany to learn and build her experience about ambulance rescue in Germany. After having the internship with G.A.R.D., she will do her internship for other two weeks at Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf and another one week at a hospital clinic in Freiburg. Early and Beginning with English Artittaya started her first day at G.A.R.D at 6.30 with the education by the G.A.R.D station. She tried on a rescue uniform and observed all equipments in the ambulance car. It was all started in English be...cause in stead of her Thai language she can only speak English (not German because she doesn’t know German). Then the first shift of RTW got started. The colleagues were very impressed of Artittaya for her curiosity and interesting in the ambulance system work here; even the language barrier (some German workers cannot use English well), every step of work was pursued. Moreover in the following days Artittaya’s interests did not bring the troubles to the colleagues, for every comprehensive question possible to be answered. In Germany everything is good Particularly, Artittaya was impressed in the big Ambulance vehicle. In Thailand there is only one RTW (an ambulance car) that is as big as a KTW (patient ambulance car) here, but it has less essential equipments on board (in the ambulance car). Also the hospital left a positive impression on Artittaya -- to her especially the UKE (Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf ) was special and something really big different from the hospital clinics in Thailand. Last but not least, Artittaya was very impressed with the big patients-- there were so many patients like these, whom she had never seen in Thailand. A special thank goes to all colleagues, who welcomed and took special care of our guest from Thailand in all 4 days. We wish Artittaya having a beautiful and interesting time in Germany and we press our thumbs that she also can see snow for the first time...Translator : By Dr.Wiriya Just , The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill , Chapel Hill, North Carolina ,USA and Freiburg Im Breisgau, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany , PhD • Nursing 23 November 2011
