The Royal Thai Police in the resort province of Phuket are finally putting some teeth into the law requiring all hotels and guesthouses to report their foreign guests. This will facilitate missing persons locates to some degree. Just 76 provinces and Bangkok to go.

Presently in development is the first in a series of guides, tentatively titled Thinking Ahead for the Unthinkable. It will contain essential tips & suggestions to simplify and accelerate a missing persons investigation if you ever need to retain a private investigator to locate a lost traveler.
