På søndag deltok den norske ambassaden i Bangkoks Pride Parade 2026 sammen med de andre nordiske under budskapet “Nordics for Equality”🏳️‍🌈

Det var en glede å feire sammen med aktivister fra hele Thailand i en fargerik markering av Pride, for respekt, verdighet og like muligheter for alle.

On Sunday, the Norwegian Embassy participated in the Bangkok Pride Parade 2026 alongside the other Nordics under the theme “Nordics for Equality”🏳️‍🌈

It was a pleasure to join activists from across Thailand in a vibrant celebration of Pride, for respect, dignity, and equal opportunities for all.

Ambassadør Astrid Emilie Helle og studentpraktikant Luna Synnøve Henry innledet nasjonaldagen ved Sjømannskirken i Pattaya, der nærmere 300 festglade gjester hadde samlet seg. Programmet bød på god mat, barnetog og leker for store og små. Ambassadøren holdt tale og leste opp hilsenen fra Hans Majestet Kong Harald.

Ambassaden retter en varm takk til Sjømannskirken og sjømannsprest Helle Maria Wolstad for en inkluderende og vellykket feiring.

På kvelden deltok ambassaden på 17. mai-middag arrangert av Det thai-norske handelskammeret (TNCC). Over 100 gjester - nordmenn, thailendere og venner av Norge - deltok i markeringen, som i år også feiret handelskammerets 30-årsjubileum.

Kvelden startet med velkomsttale ved handelskammerets president Kristine Anvik Leach, etterfulgt av tale fra ambassadør Astrid Emilie Helle.

🇳🇴Norway’s Constitution Day - 17 May 2026

H.E. Ambassador Astrid Emilie Helle and student intern Luna Synnøve Henry began Constitution Day at the Norwegian Church Abroad in Pattaya, where close to 300 guests had gathered to celebrate. The programme featured good food, a children’s parade, and activities for all ages. The Ambassador delivered a speech and read the greeting from His Majesty King Harald V of Norway.

The Embassy extends its gratitude to the Norwegian Church Abroad and Helle Maria Wolstad for an inclusive and successful celebration.

In the evening, the Embassy attended a 17 May dinner hosted by the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce. More than 100 guests - Norwegians, Thais, and friends of Norway - took part in the celebration, which this year also marked the Chamber’s 30th anniversary.

The evening began with welcoming remarks by the Chamber’s President, Kristine Anvik Leach, followed by a speech from H.E. Ambassador Astrid Emilie Helle.

The Embassy thanks the Chamber for its excellent organisation and for a memorable celebration of Norway’s Constitution Day🎉

On 14 May 2026, H.E. Mrs. Astrid Emilie Helle, the Norwegian Ambassador to Thailand, and the Embassy opened the Integrity in Practice Forum - Shaping the Future through Responsible Governance. The event was hosted by the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce (TNCC) in collaboration with the Embassy, with support from the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries through its Business Promotion and Profiling Fund (NPR).

“Norway is ready to support Thailand’s accession to the OECD. We believe that efforts on reaching OECD’s requirements and international standards will contribute to enhance Thailand’s competitiveness and will advance benefits in many other areas,” H.E. Mrs. Astrid Emilie Helle stated in her remarks.

The program featured panel discussions and an interactive workshop, bringing together stakeholders from across sectors to exchange insights on transparency, integrity, and responsible governance🌟

🇳🇴 Chargée d'affaires a.i. Thea Ottmann and representatives from the Embassy attended the Thai - Norwegian Chamber of Commerce (TNCC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 29 April 2026.

At the AGM dinner, Ms. Ottmann congratulated the new Board of Directors and the newly elected TNCC President, Kristine Anvik Leach, Managing Director of Jotun (Thailand), on assuming this important role. Ms. Ottmann also expressed her sincere appreciation to the outgoing President, Axel Blom, for his dedicated efforts in ensuring TNCC's proactive operations and for his strong advocacy in promoting Norwegian - Thai economic cooperation. In addition, Ms. Ottmann congratulated TNCC on marking its 30th Anniversary in 2026. 🎉

In her remarks, Ms. Ottmann highlighted that Norway has already ratified the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Thailand and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and looks forward to its entry into force, enabling Norway and Thailand to gain benefits from the FTA, once the agreement is also ratified by Thailand. 🇳🇴🇹🇭 She reaffirmed Norway’s support to Thailand’s accession to the OECD, noting that the commitment is reflected in upcoming activities including the Integrity in Practice Forum, organised by TNCC with support from the Embassy on 14 May, and the Thai - Nordic Dialogue on Transparency and Competitiveness, funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers and co-organised by the Nordic embassies in Bangkok in November.

The Embassy greatly values its close collaboration with TNCC and the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) in promoting Norwegian businesses as Team Norway in Thailand. We look forwards to continuing and strengthening this cooperation throughout this year. 🤝

Representatives from the Embassy and the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce attended the launch of the Norwegian Seafood Council’s (NSC) first marketing campaign of 2026, “Norwegian Saba: Fish & Firm”, held on 21 April. The campaign highlights Norwegian mackerel (Saba) as a one-of-a-kind fish of premium quality, suitable for the whole family and offered at affordable prices.

Thailand, renowned for its world-class cuisine and outstanding food service industry, is a leading Asian market for seafood from Norway. In 2025, exports of Norwegian Saba to Thailand reached 8,200 tonnes, valued at THB 1.02 billion.

The Embassy continues to work closely with relevant agencies, including the NSC, to promote trade and investment between Norway and Thailand🇳🇴🇹🇭

Ambassador of Norway, Astrid Emilie Helle, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Suphajee Suthumpun, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce on the 01.04.26. The meeting marked an important opportunity to reaffirm the long-standing relationship between Norway and Thailand, which spans more than 120 years🇳🇴🇹🇭

Both sides exchanged views on the EFTA-Thailand Free Trade Agreement, which is expected to enhance trade and cooperation between the two countries. The discussion also covered trade promotion, cooperation in the agricultural sector, green economy, and tourism. Ambassador Helle also expressed Norway’s continued support for Thailand’s accession process to become member of the OECD.

Ambassador Helle congratulated the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce on her second term in office, and looks forward to the continued cooperation between our two countries🤝🏻
