Meet Tommy, our new Deputy Head of Mission!

Before coming to Bangkok, Tommy headed the Diplomatic Academy at Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has served at Norway’s embassies in Yangon, Washington, D.C., and Beijing. He is looking forward to discovering Thailand’s vibrant culture, world-famous cuisine, and warm hospitality.

Meet Martha, our new Administrative Secretary!

Martha recently arrived from a posting in Islamabad and enjoys creating structure and finding smarter ways of working. She is excited to explore Thailand, experience its fantastic food, and learn more about its people and culture.

Meet Stine, our new Head of Immigration!

Stine spent the past three years at the Norwegian Embassy in Islamabad and has previously served in Iran and Saudi Arabia. Although she comes from Northern Norway, she is already embracing the Bangkok heat! She is looking forward to getting to know Thailand’s rich culture and friendly people.

Meet Alan, our new Identity and Anti-Fraud Advisor!

Alan has a keen eye for detail and enjoys examining things under a microscope. While this is his first posting at an embassy, he previously worked as an intern in Seoul and served as a consular officer in Addis Ababa. He is excited to begin this new chapter in Bangkok and get to know Thailand and the region.

Meet Norway’s New Ambassador Designate to Thailand, Frode Solberg! 🇳🇴🇹🇭

I am honoured and excited to begin my role as Norway’s Ambassador to Thailand. Having previously served as Norway’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, I am delighted to be back in Asia and eager to get to know Thailand and Southeast Asia better in the years ahead 🌏

Norway and Thailand share longstanding and friendly relations, and I look forward to engaging with partners, stakeholders, and the Norwegian community as we continue to strengthen cooperation between our countries 🤝

As I begin this new chapter in Bangkok, I look forward to learning more about Thailand, building new connections across the region, and contributing to the continued development of the strong ties between Norway and Thailand.
I am excited for the years ahead and eager to explore all that Thailand and Southeast Asia have to offer ✨

We are deeply grateful for the solidarity and support shown during Norway’s time of national mourning following the passing of His Majesty King Harald V. 🇳🇴

The support received at both the Embassy of Norway and the Ambassador’s Residence has been greatly appreciated. We were touched by the many visitors who signed our Books of Condolence and by the numerous messages of sympathy received during this period of national mourning.

Yesterday, Norway bid farewell to King Harald V. We are grateful for a lifetime of devoted service to the nation and its people.

✨ Ambassaden i Bangkok søker studentpraktikant for våren 2027! 🇹🇭

Er du en motivert og samfunnsengasjert student som ønsker relevant erfaring fra utenrikstjenesten?

Som praktikant ved ambassaden i Bangkok blir du en del av et internasjonalt arbeidsmiljø, og får et unikt innblikk i Norges arbeid i Thailand og regionen. Arbeidsoppgavene er varierte og inkluderer blant annet politisk og økonomisk rapportering, enklere saksbehandling, prosjektoppfølging, fellesnordisk samarbeid og praktisk tilrettelegging av arrangementer.
Et praktikantopphold ved ambassaden gir verdifull erfaring, innsikt i diplomati og internasjonalt samarbeid, samt muligheten til å arbeide både selvstendig og i team.

Endring i reglene for visumfri innreise til Thailand🇹🇭

Fra 15. september 2026 er oppholdstiden for norske borgere som reiser inn i Thailand under ordningen for visumfri innreise, begrenset til 30 dager.

His Majesty King Haakon VIII takes the oath before the Parliament.

The oath-taking is a formal affirmation of the constitutional monarchy and of the bond between the King and the people’s elected assembly.

It is a tradition with deep historical roots and marks the beginning of a new chapter for Norway.
