On June 3, people across the world will mark World Bicycle Day, a celebration of cycling as a practical, sustainable, and increasingly popular way to get around, not just for short trips, but for long-distance travel too.
Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2018, World Bicycle Day celebrates the bicycle’s role in promoting sustainable transportation, enhancing health and well-being, and supporting a greener, more inclusive future.
To celebrate World Bicycle Day, let’s take a look back at our cycling event held last November as part of “A Safe Journey with Her,” the UN-led 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, under the 2025 global theme “End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls.”
Today, try to ride a bike instead of driving a car when you're getting around!

Supporting Belgian innovation in Thailand 🇧🇪🇹🇭
Following recent exchanges with the company, Ambassador Michel Parys, accompanied by First Secretary Laurent De Greef, visited Umicore Precious Metals Thailand and met with Managing Director Gael Boussiere and his team to discuss the company's operations, ongoing activities and future perspectives in Thailand.
A global leader in materials technology and circular economy solutions, Umicore plays a key role in recovering and refining precious metals from industrial materials, helping to reduce waste and support more sustainable value chains worldwide.
The visit reflects the Embassy's commitment to maintaining a close dialogue with Belgian companies operating in Thailand and to better understanding the opportunities and challenges they encounter. Belgium remains a strong supporter of sustainable industrial development and long-term economic cooperation with Thailand.

This morning, First Secretary Laurent De Greef had the opportunity to visit the Advanced Cyber Security Center (ACSC) and the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on the sidelines of the 2026 OSCE Asian Conference, held this year in Bangkok under the theme “Countering Transnational Threats in the Digital Era Through Enhanced Co-operation in Asia and the OSCE Region” and co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
The visit provided valuable insights into Thailand’s efforts to combat cybercrime, online fraud and transnational criminal networks. As the Royal Thai Police’s main investigative body, the CIB plays a central role in tackling organized crime, human trafficking, digital scams and illegal call center operations - notably through the ACSC’s advanced cyber monitoring and analysis capabilities.
The exchanges also highlighted the growing importance of international cooperation, technological innovation and information-sharing in responding to increasingly sophisticated digital threats.
Many thanks to the ACSC and CIB teams for their warm welcome and insightful presentations.
