The official page of the ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI). ACAI serves as a knowledge centre on active ageing and innovation.

ACAI is a policy-focused organization fostering collaboration among ASEAN members to promote active, age-friendly environments for the aging population. It addresses health, socio-economic, and environmental factors to enhance quality of life, empower older adults, and integrate their contributions into society.

As we conclude this year's Research and Innovation Call 2026: Advancing Healthy Longevity in ASEAN, is grateful to have received many quality proposals.

Congratulations to all the selected finalists across our grant programs:
🌟 Active Ageing Catalyst Grant (3 Finalists) – Implementing in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
🌟 Active Ageing Seed Grant (5 Finalists) – Implementing in Indonesia, Lao PDR, Philippines, Singapore, and Viet Nam.
🌟 Early Career Research Grant (3 Finalists) – Implementing in Indonesia, Thailand, and Viet Nam.

Thank you to everyone who submitted the proposals, and special thanks to our Independent Review Panel (IRP) members for their valuable time, effort, and contributions in reviewing and selecting these exceptional projects.

At the 2026 Exchange Programme in Nanning, deepened strategic ties with Chinese partners to accelerate AI-driven solutions for active ageing. ACAI Executive Director Dr Somsak Akksilp emphasised that investing in the silver economy is vital to building healthier, more productive lives, while advancing bilateral dialogues with the ASEAN-China Silver Economy Development Research Center (ACSEC) on joint research, capacity building, and policy alignment.

As ASEAN prepares for key demographic shifts, ACAI remains committed to serving as a regional bridge to cultivate an inclusive, technology-empowered silver economy. 🤝

We were honoured to welcome the Foreign Service Institute, Philippines - FSI Philippines to ACAI. 🤝

As population ageing becomes a key research priority across the region, our teams gathered to share best practices on governance, funding models, and ASEAN active ageing policy frameworks. We look forward to continued collaboration with FSI as we work together to foster flexible, innovative approaches to active ageing across the region! 🌏

ACAI's very first public webinar was held yesterday, welcoming 149 participants from across ASEAN and beyond to explore the Regional Action Plan (RAP) on Active Ageing. The discussion addressed questions on global and national alignment, implementation gaps, and sustainable financing.

Special thanks to our wonderful moderator (Dr Donghee Han), panelists (Mr Naoki Minamiguchi, Dr Mikiko Kanda, Dr Gabriele Domingo), and all participants for your amazing support and contributions.

had the pleasure of receiving a visit from Gretchen Kunze, Director for the Health and Life Sciences of the US-ASEAN Business Council

The visit provided an opportunity to introduce respective missions and exchange vital insights on Southeast Asia’s rapidly shifting demographic landscape. We explored perspectives on public-private partnership, healthcare innovation, and the cross-sector dialogue on the silver economy.

ACAI look forward to building stronger bridges with US-ABC and its member companies to advance innovative solutions for active ageing in ASEAN!
