Dr. S.P. Yadav, Director General of the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA), held a productive meeting in Dushanbe with His Excellency Mr. Rahmonzoda Loiq Shirali, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection, Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. His Excellency Mr. Rajesh Uike, Ambassador of India to the Republic of Tajikistan, was also present during the meeting.

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in Snow Leopard conservation, including collaboration on population estimation, scientific monitoring, capacity building of frontline staff and forest officials, as well as enhanced protected area management in Tajikistan.

During the meeting, it was highlighted that joining the platform would further strengthen ongoing Snow Leopard conservation efforts in Tajikistan.

Ambassador Mr. Rajesh Uike received Dr. S.P. Yadav, Director General of the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA), at the Embassy in Dushanbe during his visit for the 4th High-Level International Conference on “Water for Sustainable Development”.

They discussed IBCA’s role in promoting international partnerships for big cat conservation and explored cooperation opportunities with Tajikistan, particularly in snow leopard protection, through capacity building, knowledge sharing, and technical collaboration.

The official theme for the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 is "Yoga for Healthy Aging", highlighting the role of Yoga in promoting physical health, mental well-being and healthy ageing.

Ambassador Mr. Rajesh Uike participated in the 4th High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” (2018-2028), held in Dushanbe under the Dushanbe Water Process - a series of biennial water conferences hosted by the Government of Tajikistan in cooperation with the United Nations and development partners.

The Ambassador delivered India’s country statement in the plenary session and highlighted the country’s people-centric and implementation-focused approach to water security, sanitation, river rejuvenation, and sustainable water management through flagship initiatives such as the Jal Jeevan Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission, and Namami Gange.

The Conference brought together leaders, policymakers and development partners to advance international cooperation on sustainable water management ahead of the 2026 UN Water Conference.
