The European Union is proud to support the Annual Awards Ceremony celebrating the “20 Best Women Bankers of Tajikistan” and the “25 Best Women Entrepreneurs of Tajikistan.”

As a partner through the EU-funded REMIT PRIME Programme, we are committed to empowering women across Tajikistan to start and grow their businesses, strengthen their resilience, and contribute to job creation and sustainable economic development.

Supporting women’s leadership and entrepreneurship is key to building a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.

The EU Ambassador and the EU Cooperation team visited Khorog, where they reviewed the Infectious Disease Department of the regional hospital, currently undergoing rehabilitation with EU support.

The European Union funded project is transforming healthcare conditions for patients and medical staff alike. The rehabilitation covers a two-story building with 28 wards, cabinets, and kitchens, alongside major upgrades to water and sanitation infrastructure. Once completed, the department will include 19 sanitary facilities, 52 washbasins, 26 water heaters, and fully modernized internal and external water and sewer systems spanning over 1.5 km in total.

This investment reflects the EU’s continued commitment to strengthening healthcare services and improving resilience in remote regions of Tajikistan.

Today at the Female Founders Forum (3F Forum) Tajikistan, the European Union highlighted the vital role of female founders in shaping the future of Tajikistan and Central Asia.

Women are already present across many sectors of the economy, but they must be empowered to become drivers of growth. At the first major platform gathering women in technology, investment, and entrepreneurship across Central Asia, the EU emphasised that supporting women entrepreneurs is not only a matter of fairness -- it is smart economics.

Through EU investments such as 16.6 million EUR for the Green Transition in the cotton value chain in Tajikistan and 6 million EUR channelled through the regional PRIME Central Asia programme, the EU is helping create opportunities for women-led businesses to grow and succeed.

Women entrepreneurs are not a niche group. They are a strategic economic force.

In 2026, the Russian economy is in trouble.

War-driven growth is losing momentum, sanctions are tightening, financial reserves are shrinking, and uncertainty is increasingly shaping everyday life.

What for a while looked like resilience is proving to be fragile, as the economic costs of the war spread beyond the battlefield.

Honouring courage, remembering sacrifice. Today the EU Delegation stood with survivors, diplomats and Tajik liquidators at the remembrance in Norak - commemorating the Tajik heroes who risked their lives in 1986.

Their bravery saved generations.
We must never forget.
