On 22 May 2026, Ambassador Teo Lay Cheng called on Foreign Minister Bendito dos Santos Freitas. The meeting had a productive exchange of views on bilateral cooperation and regional developments, reaffirming the warm and growing ties between Singapore and Timor-Leste.

On 29 April 2026, the Embassy hosted a reception to introduce Ambassador Teo Lay Cheng to the Singapore community. In her remarks, Ambassador Teo expressed appreciation to the Singapore Community Association Timor Leste for bringing Singaporeans and Permanent Residents together through meaningful gatherings such as National Day and Lunar New Year celebrations. She added that she looked forward to working closely with the community to deepen connections with Singapore.

On 21 April 2026, Ambassador-designate Teo Lay Cheng formally presented her credentials to President José Ramos-Horta, marking the official commencement of her duties. Ambassador Teo said: “As Singapore’s first resident Ambassador to Timor-Leste, I look forward to getting to know the community, building meaningful connections, and strengthening partnerships.”
