Her journey from the humblest beginnings to a role as an Administration Assistant is not just a career path; it’s a story of grit and inspiration.
✨Born into modest circumstances, Mrs. Maria’s professional journey began in 2003 as a member of the Support Staff at the Timor Sea Designated Area (TSDA), now known as Autoridade Nacional do Petróleo I.P. (ANP). Her duties involved maintaining the cleanliness and order of a bustling workplace. Yet, her dreams were never confined to these early responsibilities. "I always believed there was more I could do, more I could be," she reflects.

In 2009, Mrs. Maria took a significant step towards her dreams by enrolling at the University of Dili (UNDIL) to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Law. Juggling work and studies proved to be a challenge, yet with unwavering support from her husband and children, along with her Downstream team providing daily collaboration, she felt empowered to manage her responsibilities effectively.

👩‍🎓Graduating in 2014 marked a turning point. Her perseverance paid off when, a decade later, she was promoted to Administration Assistant in September 2024. Her role now includes providing full administrative and secretarial support to the Downstream Staff, assisting the ANP Downstream Directorate in achieving its goals and supporting the Administration Officer in fulfilling objectives related to Licensing Administration and Downstream Operations.

Her path was not just about climbing the career ladder but about embodying the values she wished to pass on to her eight children. It's not about what she wants to be, but who she wants to be for her children. She aspired to be a role model, demonstrating resilience, kindness, and integrity in every aspect of her life. "Through my actions, I hope to teach them the importance of empathy, the power of perseverance, and the value of staying true to oneself. Every decision I make is guided by my desire to create a nurturing and inspiring environment where my children can flourish, learn, and grow into compassionate individuals," she expresses. Over the past 22 years, her personal growth highlights her steadfast determination and the profound principles she nurtures within her family👩‍💻.

ANP LAST WEEK ❗️

Finder Timor-Leste B.V. held a public consultation meeting for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) of the Kuda-Tasi and Jahal (KTJ) Development Project at Salão Delta Nova, Dili on 2 June 2026.

The meeting brought together representatives from government ministries, NGOs, academic institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to discuss the proposed development of the Kuda-Tasi and Jahal Oil Fields in the Timor Sea.

We thank all participants for their valuable feedback and contributions. All comments and suggestions received will be considered in the final EIS report submitted to ANP for assessment. The public consultation remains open until 21 July 2026. The draft EIS can be accessed through the ANP website (https://www.anp.tl/eis-for-the-ktj-development-project/) or reviewed at the ANP and Finder offices.

Members of the public are encouraged to submit their comments and feedback before the consultation period closes. Please refer to the link above for further details on the public consultation.*****

The ANP successfully hosted a one-day workshop entitled 'The Role of Public International Law in Settling Maritime Boundary Disputes'.

The workshop was delivered by Professor Vasco Becker-Weinberg, a distinguished expert in public international law and the law of the sea from the University of Lisbon. He is the founder and president of the Portuguese Institute of the Law of the Sea (IPDM) and has published extensively on maritime boundary issues. A former Member of the European Parliament, he has also served as legal advisor to the Portuguese Secretary of State for the Sea and was part of the Portuguese delegation to the High Seas Treaty negotiations.

The session brought together representatives from MPRM, ANP, MRT, Timor Gap,ANP's GIP and ANM, providing a valuable opportunity to strengthen our understanding of the international legal frameworks for the peaceful resolution of maritime disputes.****
