🚨 BREAKING: THOUSANDS RALLY IN TUNIS DEMANDING PRESIDENT KAIS SAIED STEP DOWN
TUNIS, Tunisia — Thousands of protesters flooded the streets of the capital on Saturday, calling for the immediate resignation of President Kais Saied.
Demonstrators waved signs reading “Get out,” “Game over,” and “Only Kaïs remains happy” while chanting anti-president slogans.
The mass rally marked five years since Saied suspended parliament on July 25, 2021, and later dissolved it to rule by decree — a move critics call a self-coup that dismantled Tunisia’s post-Arab Spring democracy.
Protesters denounced worsening living conditions, democratic backsliding, crackdowns on dissent, and the mismanagement of the state amid a severe heatwave, blackouts, and water shortages.
