MAFF invites talented graphic designers to join us in commemorating World Food Day 2025 in Tonga on the 31st of October 2025
WORLD FOOD DAY THEME: “Hand in Hand for Better Food and Better Future”/ “Takanga ‘etau fohe: Ki ha Me’atokoni mo ha kaha’u lelei ange”
CATEGORIES:
• Ages 8-12 years
• Ages 13-18 years
GUIDELINES:
• Entries are open to participants aged 8-12 and 13-18 years old
• Participants must register with the Food Division by calling 7401121 before 12:00 pm on 22 October 2025
• Registered participants must be present in person at the Food Division (MAFF Headquarters Officer, Vuna Road, Ma’ufanga) on 25th October 2025 for the posters designing competition
• Poster entries may be drawn, painted, or sketched using pens, pencils, crayons, or charcoal, or created with oil, acrylic, or watercolour paint. Food Division will provide paper posters, pens, pencils, and crayons. Participants may bring any other preferred art materials not provided by the food division.
• Poster entries may/may not include text. If text is used, no more than 25 words or 100 characters can be accepted.
• All artwork must be original and should not include logos or photographic images of the contestant or other personal information.
• Posters must reflect on the World Food Day theme 2025. Participants are encouraged to read and understand the theme before the competition day.
• All participants may be accompanied by a parent or guardians
• The winner of this competition will be submitted as an entry to the FAO WFD2025 Poster Competition.

FREE ANIMAL HEALTH SERVICES, MON 20th - FRI 24th OCT 2025, TONGATAPU.
The SPAW October 2025 clinic, in partnership with the Angela Glover Fund, and supported by TAWS and MAFF.
From Monday 20th October to Friday 24th October the SPAW vet team will be in Tongatapu and to help them do this important work they will be supported by MAFF Livestock Division, TAWS and the Angela Glover Fund.
The teams will travel to 4 villages and then finish on Friday with a clinic at MAFF Tokomololo
1. Monday 20 October - Nukunuku 08.30-16.30
2. Tuesday 21 October - Houma 08.30-16.30
3. Wednesday 22 October - Vaini 08.30-16.30
4. Thursday 23 October - Tatakamotonga. 8.30-16.30

DUE TO THE LATEST REPORT FROM WAHIS KNOWN AS WORLD ANIMAL HEALTH INFORMATION SYSTEM ON 17 OF THIS MONTH THAT THE H5N1 OF VIRUS DISEASE KNOWN AS AVIAN INFLUENZA VIRUSES HAVE BEEN DETECT AND FOUND IN BRAZIL IN WILD AND POULTRY FARM.
TO PROTECT OUR LOCAL LIVESTOCK FROM THIS HIGH RISK DISEASE THE MINISTRY DECIDE TO TEMPORARY SUSPEND IMPPORT OF POULTRY PRODUCTS FRPM BRAZIL.
