The Master of Urban Design (MUD) at METU is a graduate program consisting of one-year full-time intensive studio course in addition to the consecutive period of research thesis to receive MSc certificate. 2016-17 Akademik Yılı içerisinde yürüttüğümüz Diyarbakır, Suriçi stüdyosundan sonra aynı temayla bu kez Antakya için yıkıma uğramış kentsel dokunun onarımı ve yeniden canlandırılmasına yönelik tasarım ve planlama senaryoları ve stratejileri önermek üzere ODTÜ Şehir Planlama Yüksek Lisans Stüdyosu ile eşgüdüm halinde çalışmalara başlıyoruz.

Following the experience we gained within Diyarbakır, Suriçi studio that we conducted in the 2016-17 Academic Year, we are starting to work in coordination with METU Master of City Planning Studio on the same theme, this time to propose design and planning scenarios and strategies on the repair and revitalization of the earthquake-torn urban texture for Antakya.

The world is struggling with several crisis due to the growing population, consumption, production, migration patterns, and the emerging COVID-19. The protection of natural resources and environments has become more important in saving our Planet to provide much better future for new generations. Cities must play critical roles in finding new, alternative sustainable and nature-friendly solutions to tackle these problems. Sustainable Green Urbanism (SGU) captures the environmental dimension of urban sustainability. Sustainable Green Urbanism: Envisioning New Agents for Planning and Designing Sustainable Spaces in Ankara is the outcome of collaborative endeavours of studio critics and students of Urban Design Master Studio II held in the Master of Urban Design of the Department of City and Regional Planning at Middle East Technical University. It includes urban design research and projects on the Çayyolu district in Ankara under the post-pandemic conditions via online platforms and dialogues.

You are kindly invited to the international symposium organized by ‘Industrial Urbanism_Turkey’ in collaboration with Aura İstanbul: “Industry, Spatial Planning & Design for the Productive Space”

Within one-day symposium, from the fields of planning, architecture and economics, 11 participants from four countries will discuss the strategic perspectives for the future transformation of the industrial districts, in three sessions and two keynotes.
