Study Abroad Mentorship-Registration Form

We are a collective of Afghan scholars based in the US and beyond, united by our diverse academic backgrounds, expertise, and shared experiences with various institutions and scholarships. We have established the Afghan Woman's Movement for a Prosperous Afghanistan, dedicated to supporting Afghan women through education and advocacy. Our latest initiative, the Study Abroad Mentorship Program, aims to guide participants through the complexities of university admissions and scholarship applications.

The program comprises two phases. The first phase is a comprehensive six-week training session, open to all Afghan participants regardless of gender. This phase provides extensive guidance on navigating the admission process, writing statements of purpose (SOP) and essays, and conducting scholarship searches. The second phase focuses on personalized one-on-one mentorship sessions exclusively for female participants. During these sessions, qualified participants will be paired with experienced mentors who will support them in preparing and applying for various academic programs and scholarships.

This volunteer-based program is dedicated to fostering educational opportunities for Afghan women, empowering them to achieve their academic and professional aspirations.

Afghan women face severe restrictions under Taliban rule—banned from education, work, political participation, and public life. This institutionalized oppression is a crime against humanity. As the UN meets with the Taliban for Doha III negotiations on June 30, 2024, Afghan women remain excluded from the process. By excluding Afghan women to bring the Taliban to the table, the UN has tremendously compromised its own principles and credibility, perpetuating their suffering and legitimizing the Taliban's cruelty.
