Presenting classical Ankara!✨
Our Deputy Head of Mission, Nathalie Lintvelt, recently celebrated the launch of Archaeological Heritage and Liveable Cities during METU’s Museum Week. This book, made by in collaboration with METU, features four creative student-led proposals to revitalize Ankara’s key ancient sites, blending rich history with modern urban life.🏙️
These proposals include the Roman Theatre, the Cardo Maximus, the Roman Bath complex, and the Temple of Augustus. Their projects explored how archaeological heritage can be better preserved and integrated into the urban environment through creative ideas, spatial interventions, and public engagement.
We are proud to support initiatives that encourage academic exchange and cultural cooperation between Türkiye and the Netherlands, contributing to the development of young heritage professionals.🇹🇷🌷🇳🇱

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
On the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism, and Transphobia , we reaffirm this for every LGBTIQ+ person.
Around the world, le***an, gay, bi+, q***r and intersex persons still face discrimination and violence. Yet everyone should be free to be themselves.
Equal right for LGBTIQ+ persons are a longstanding core human rights priority for the Kingdom of The Netherlands.
This year’s global IDAHOBIT theme is ‘at the heart of democracy’ – a reminder that truly democratic societies must be built on justice an freedom for everyone ❤️🧡💛💚💙

Offshore wind, energy security and bilateral cooperation were key themes at TÜREK 2026, the Turkish Wind Energy Congress in Ankara.
Dutch Ambassador Joep Wijnands joined the Ambassadors Panel to discuss wind diplomacy, strategic partnerships and the role of clean energy in strengthening resilience.
“Dutch companies bring more than wind turbines. They bring a systems approach: combining technology, engineering, spatial planning, ports and investment experience to make projects practical and future-proof.”
With Dutch expertise in offshore wind and maritime infrastructure, and Türkiye’s growing role as a regional energy hub, there is clear potential to deepen cooperation in wind energy, innovation and sustainable infrastructure.

🎖️looking back on a great evening in Antalya with a royal touch!
For more than a decade, has dedicated herself to supporting vulnerable communities and bringing people together, both in the Netherlands and in Türkiye. She has consistently used her voice not just to sing, but to speak up for others.
This royal distinction, with which His Majesty King Willem-Alexander appointed her Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau, is a sign of appreciation for all that Karsu has done for others over the years.
Tebrik Ederim, Karsu!

✍️ Marking World Press Freedom Day, we hosted an evening on journalism, resilience and courage at the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Istanbul, in cooperation with .turkey .
🎤 Through two fireside chats, journalists at different stages of their careers shared what draws them to independent journalism, how they persist despite challenges, and what they hope to pass on to the next generation.
🤝 Conversations like this matter: they help younger journalists and students feel inspired and motivated for a career in independent journalism and build solidarity in a profession that often demands personal and financial sacrifices.

Three days in Trabzon with the 🇳🇱 ambassador!
This week we had the pleasure of celebrating 400 years of shared heritage in the city of Trabzon, where the mountains meet the sea 🌊⛰️
🌷 Ambassador Joep Wijnands, with Safa Beyar Yavuz (), and the Mayor of Ortahisar, Ahmet Kaya, officially opened the third edition of the Ortak Miras exhibition to the public. It displays our shared history, but also our contemporary connections.
🤝Together with Governor Tahir Şahin and Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, our ambassador discussed the region’s development and the close ties between our countries. Our visit to the Trabzon Chamber of Commerce further exemplified our connection.
⚽ Our visit showed us the industrious, hard-working people of Trabzon, together with the independent spirit that they carry. Nowhere was the city’s character better experienced than at the pride of the Black Sea: Trabzonspor. Here we experienced first-hand the passion that football inspires in the region.
We warmly thank both Safa Beyar Yavuz and Ahmet Kaya for their generous hospitality and excellent cooperation in making this opening possible.
Bize her yer Trabzon’da 🔴🔵
