Bless you for giving us all a kick up the back side. Humanity owes your mission a lot. Since your photo, we were all forced to put our thinking caps on for a real change.
Over 2m Syrian refugees are in , trapped in a legal grey area, not even recognised as immigrants. Families live on the streets of big cities with no food, water, clothing and shelter, but basic human needs such as sanitation, education, and healthcare.
So I have a dream…
How about feeding displaced people healthy food and establishing a routine exercise in self-sufficiency, i.e. actually fixing a social problem rather than offering a temporary solution?
How? In two ways. First, by stopping a terrible waste, and collecting perfectly fine but past sell by date food discarded from supermarkets. Then turning these in local kitchens into nutritious food for the rough sleepers, Syrian refugees, gypsy kids or the homeless. We can create a network of housewives, restaurants, catering companies who would spare a little extra time for those who need it most. We need volunteers to come forward. A mere technicality that we can fix I think.
Second, and as a longer term plan, getting homeless people plant rooftop gardens, and help feed shelters and support volunteering movements like -Der and
Volunteer trainees to be residents of the shelters. They are to participate in the scheme and to receive healthy food in return. This will not just nourish their bodies but also their souls, helping them turn their lives around, give them a sense of mission, equip them with new skills that would help them leave their ‘failure’ identities behind and perhaps open their horizons to new possibilities, ie. a viable future.
Empowering those who have been less fortunate can successfully help them kick a drug habit, get a mental health issue under control, or become a productive member of the society.
What not to like?
Tell me what you think. Come closer, hold my hand. Together, we can…
It is just a dream at this stage but I believe with your feedback we can make it work. What say you?
Love & light,
Ayca
