🌿 Building Capacity for Climate Action & Advocacy 🌎

The Reptile Conservation Centre of Trinidad and Tobago (RCCTT)is pleased to share that our Director, Nalini Rampersad - Ali ,participated in the AI-Driven Climate Policy Advocacy Workshop, hosted by the Cropper Foundation in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The workshop brought together civil society representatives to explore how artificial intelligence and innovative tools can support climate advocacy, policy engagement, and evidence-based decision-making.

We are grateful for the opportunity to participate, contribute our perspectives, and provide valuable feedback on KAI an AI-driven tool designed to support Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).

The training provided practical knowledge and tools that can be applied to our ongoing environmental conservation, climate advocacy, and community outreach efforts.

A sincere thank you to the Cropper Foundation and UNDP for creating this valuable learning opportunity and for their commitment to strengthening the capacity of CSOs across Trinidad and Tobago. 🌱🤝

Together, we continue to learn, innovate, advocate, and take action for a more sustainable future.** 💚🌎

For over 30 years, the Reptile Conservation Centre of Trinidad and Tobago & Serpentarium has remained committed to wildlife conservation, rescue and rehabilitation, environmental education, and community outreach.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Environmental Management Authority for recognizing and supporting our continued efforts in protecting Trinidad and Tobago’s precious wildlife.

We would also like to give special recognition to our dedicated member, Mason Ramdawar for his unwavering commitment and determination in securing much-needed, crucial assistance for an environmentally sensitive species — Ocelot — which was unfortunately a victim of human wildlife conflict.

Additionally as well to Mr. Steve Seepersad, Senior Game Warden II of the Ministry of Agriculture Land and Fisheries Farm Road Curepe Forestry Division, Wildlife Section, for his swift response and intervention. As a result of his prompt action, the animal is still alive. We would also like to recognize the resilience and unwavering efforts of
Dr. Kriyaan Singh whose dedication played an important role in giving this precious animal a fighting chance.

Their combined effort and dedication is a true reflection of the deep-rooted commitment of the RCCTT/Serpentarium to wildlife conservation, rescue, rehabilitation, and the protection of Trinidad and Tobago’s precious biodiversity.”

A caiman was discovered in a resident's backyard in Cunupia and was safely rescued and removed. The operation was led by Siddeeq Ali of Serpentarium / RCCTT, who successfully captured the caiman, with assistance from Adam Abdullah The reptile was subsequently relocated to a suitable habitat.

Members of the public are reminded that the displacement of reptiles is a common occurrence during the rainy season. Any sightings of wildlife in residential areas should be reported to the relevant authorities or qualified wildlife rescue organizations.

Special thanks to everyone involved in ensuring the safe rescue and relocation of this animal.
