On March 31, 2020, the Diego Martin Borough proudly achieved certification as a Tsunami Ready Community by the United Nations.

As part of our continued commitment to strengthening emergency preparedness and early warning systems, the Disaster Management Unit of the Diego Martin Borough Corporation installed and sounded the Tsunami Warning Siren at the Carenage Health Facility.

This location has been strategically identified to enhance community alerting capabilities, ensuring rapid public notification in the event of a tsunami or other emergencies.

Spend the day with one of DMU's checkers, Racquel Du Pont, as she takes us behind the scenes of her daily routine. 🚨📋

From preparing the team to head out into the field, answering the Emergency Hotline, typing up memos and reports, helping plan upcoming shelter inspections and CERT training, to joining the team for staff meetings, Racquel plays an important role in supporting the Unit’s preparedness and response efforts.⛈🌪️
