In celebration of International Day of Sign Languages and International Week of Deaf People 2026, students from Cascade School For The Deaf visited the St. James Youth Facility Library!

The day was filled with interactive storytime, read and translated into sign language and an engaging session learning about the Declaration on the Rights of Deaf Children. To top it all off, the students enjoyed some game time together before wrapping up a wonderful visit! 🤟✨

Today’s Book recommendation is “Miguel Old But Not Dead” by Rash Adam. Miguel, when his wife dies finds himself alone, falls into a state of depression and withdraws into isolation. He overcomes this and tries to integrate himself into society again, only to find himself unwelcome sometimes rejected and occasionally ridiculed. He tries in many ways with only a glimmer of hope and yet persists with only limited success.
