The NWRHA proudly recognizes the dedicated teams across the St. George Central Health Facilities following several commendations received from satisfied patients. 💙

Patients praised the professionalism, kindness and compassion demonstrated by staff across multiple departments. Special recognition was given to the Dressing Room staff, Eye Clinic team, Dental Department, and several members of staff at the San Juan Health Centre for their exceptional care, support and commitment to patient wellbeing.

🌱🥗 National Nutrition Awareness Month Activity – Port of Spain General Hospital 🥗🌱

As part of the observance of National Nutrition Awareness Month, under the theme “Caribbean Foods as Medicine,” the first awareness activity was hosted at Port of Spain General Hospital.

To complement the educational session, attendees were introduced to a featured dish, "Pumpkin Alfredo Pasta", which showcased a creative and nutritious use of locally available ingredients. Participants were also offered samples of several health-promoting beverages, including Sorrel and Lemongrass Tea, Pineapple and Cucumber Tea, and Pineapple and Mint Tea. These beverages were highlighted for their hydrating properties and potential health benefits.

The event received a positive response from members of the public, who actively participated in the discussion and enjoyed the food and beverage samples provided. To further encourage healthy eating and sustainable food practices, attendees were also given sorrel and lettuce seedlingsto take home, promoting the establishment of home gardens and increasing access to fresh, nutritious produce. 🌱

The activity successfully combined nutrition education with practical demonstrations, reinforcing the message that Caribbean foods can play a vital role in supporting health and wellness.

🩸❤️ Highlights from the National Blood Donation Drive 2026 ❤️🩸

The NWRHA was proud to support the Ministry of Health (MOH) and key partners and stakeholders at the launch of the National Blood Donation Drive held on Saturday 13th June 2026 at the Couva Children's Hospital, in observance of World Blood Donor Day.

Our dedicated team from the Dr. Waveney P. Charles Blood Donation Centre played a vital role in the success of the initiative by collecting blood donations and ensuring that every donor felt safe, informed, and comfortable throughout the donation process. The event also provided an opportunity to encourage donors to become regular contributors and continue helping to save lives through voluntary blood donation.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Health for allowing us to be part of this impactful initiative, as well as our hardworking nurses and healthcare professionals whose dedication and expertise made the event a success. We also thank all stakeholders, volunteers, and donors who contributed to this important cause.

We aim to strengthen our nation's blood supply, one donation at a time.
