INVITATION TO OUR 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION CONCERT

Dear Parents, Guardians, Teachers, Students, Past Students and Members of the Pleasantville Community,

It is with immense pride, joy and a deep sense of gratitude that Pleasantville Secondary School invites you to join us as we celebrate a remarkable milestone — 50 years of excellence, growth, achievement and service to education.

Since its establishment in 1976, Pleasantville Secondary School has played a significant role in shaping the lives of generations of students, nurturing talent, building character and preparing young people to contribute meaningfully to society. As we reflect on our journey, we honour the dedication of our past and present teachers, the commitment of our parents and guardians, the achievements of our students and the invaluable contributions of our past students and wider school community.

In recognition of this golden milestone, we cordially invite you to be part of our 50th Anniversary Celebration Concert, under the theme of unity, pride and togetherness. This special occasion promises an enjoyable afternoon of entertainment, food, fun and cherished memories, featuring the talents of our present and past students.

- Date: Saturday, 14th November 2026
- Time: 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Venue: Pleasantville Secondary School Compound
- Contribution: $50.00 per person

This celebration is more than an event; it is a tribute to our shared history, a recognition of the people who have contributed to our success and an opportunity to strengthen the bonds that unite us as one school family.

We therefore encourage every parent, teacher, student, past student and friend of Pleasantville Secondary School to come out and celebrate with us. Let us reconnect with old friends, create new memories and demonstrate our collective pride in an institution that has served generations and continues to inspire future leaders.

Every year, Calypso History Month stands as a vibrant testament to the rich legacy of Calypso music. Today, however, we pause to honour the greatest pillar of that very legacy.

As Dr. Slinger Francisco, universally loved as The Mighty Sparrow, was buried today, we reflect on the spectacular life he shared with us. A Grenadian by birth and a Trinidadian by upbringing, he conquered the globe. For over 60 years, the "Calypso King of the World" crafted the soundtrack of a nation through his brilliance as a vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist, gifting us hundreds of unforgettable tracks across more than 70 albums.

Our hearts are heavy that this titan has departed, but we find comfort in knowing his legacy is truly eternal. We will continue to keep his spirit alive, ensuring his voice resonates for generations to come.
